These folks went all out on Halloween decorations! Pic doesn't do justice to all they have all over their corner yard. They have two of those 12 footer skeletons with creepy lit up eyes, huge spiders, eyeballs and the works. Couldn't help wondering what's the investment for such a display???

Rode with a bunch of old guys on old bikes today. I was on my ‘37 Raleigh Sports:
Also represented was Mercian, a couple of other Raleighs (‘51 Lenton Tourist and early 70s Record Ace mixte), and a 30s Monark.

Put a lid on October with a 72-miler out to Lake Zurich. Temps hovering around 50F, also windy as F. Nothing but tailwinds coming home.
Fall color should be peaking in the next week or so.
Single-lane bridge on the mysterious and beautiful Cuba Road.
Found some hills...
Lake Zurich (not pictured: Alps, Swiss charm, cheese, etc....)
The appropriately named "Old Hicks" road.

Back in the saddle again...
Finally back in the saddle and it felt great. About three months ago, in early August, I fell off a ladder, dislocated and fractured my arm, and tore my labrum. I finally got back on my bike yesterday for a short, slow, flat ride. No real shoulder pain as long I stick to normal riding position and don't try any arm traffic signals (which I'm not in the habit of doing anyway). I took the LOOK out for a quick 10-ish miles around Berkeley. First stop was the LBS, Missing Link, for some new gloves (one went missing during my off-bike hiatus).

Nice little display of some miniature bike art:

Then a pleasant loop through a shopping district where I stumbled on a Halloween parade.

I was a little surprised to see the "Christmas Creep" cut into the Halloween holiday:
Untitled by gaucho777, on Flickr
Next I made my way to the SF Bay trail to finish out the short loop along the water.

Nice to see you back in the saddle Randy. Fourth Street does it up for Christmas so I'm sure they are ready to get it on after last year.

That's some interesting bike art inside the LBS.
What am I looking at?
And I want your Simplex shifters.

Did my retirees ride today and one of the guys brought out his old SOMEC because he didn't want to dirty his carbon
. He's looking for sapphire plugs for the brakes if anyone knows a source.

Great fall weather only took a short local ride on my old Jeunet 620 rat build this is one was more about the bike than the destination. Got a bit sentimental for this bike moving stuff around hard to think it has components from nearly 20 makers from around the world that are now defunct including many great names Jeunet, Simplex, Mafac, Suntour, SR Japan, Malliard, Matrix. Fibrex to name a few.

Always thankful to post this thread
Not many rides last 2 weeks - only mini-rides to inflate tires and rotate bearings in grease on the collection.
But today even the sprinkles and damp/wet pavement could not stop me from seeking autumn color in my Valley and the beauty of fields, bogs and hills (?!?).
Ohhh the colour. I should crop and highlight to better strike reality.
The fields are muchly green again
the bogs are rarely green unless it is from moss & mold.
Just cruisin. Decent surface and tubular 25mm, mmmmm….
Here’s the first hill in the last 1.8 mi (3km) of my way home. No Outlet, indeed - should read Little Respite. A bigger screen is helpful in seeing that little ribbon going by the last yellow tree. 90* left and keep climbing….380’ (~125m) elevation gain for me, more for those who want it. Humbles me every ride, maybe healthy, for the soul?

^ It's great seeing you post your rides out May Valley way, Stu. I miss riding with you.
If you’ve seen my older posts you can probably figger out where I went today.

@northbend - snow coming to that pass level tunnel this week. Was looking for a cheap 70+ pass at Crystal, they raised the age to 80 for cheap tickets!?!
