I wanted to go compact crank but this one didn’t get along with the Super Record RD. I dug through my RD box I found the Suntour Arx (I think) that I thought I’d gotten rid of. Decision was this or a Campy Racing Triple so went with the older one.

Spaghetti Legs re: " I always thought Mel Gibson was Australian - honorary Scotsman after Braveheart maybe?" yes you are quite right Mel is Australian, and its a good film, but I was just being silly and sarcastic in reference to his murdering of the Scottish accent in the film

Took a break from working on my new Bianchi to get 30 miles in on the Colnago. Took a quick stop at the Stanford golf course.

It snowed a couple of inches in Portland last night, but most of it got rained away today. I found a break in the 37 degree showers to go find some slush. It was a busy year, so I’m hustling to meet my measly 1,000 mile goal, and there’s nothing but rain and snowflakes in the forecast!

Nice almost normal weather today 40 or so and sunny. Took a ride to Thompson park and road some of the Ti Hack and lost in the woods trails both are usually snowed in completely this time of year but only a couple of inches of snow in spots. A nice mix of nearly everything on this ride Dry tarmac, icy snowy tarmac, dry gravel, wet gravel, snowy gravel, dry trails and snowy trails about 20miles round trip on the Mesa GSX.

That is one big front bag

I see you're tall, I'm small.
That front weight would not work for me.
Nice looking rig however.
Ride on.

I like the weight up front... and Dave Cain at Waxwing Bag Co did me a real treat here. Thanks to @gugie for pointing me in that direction.

It’s actually the XC. The logo on mine is worn off so I looked up.

https://www.disraeligears.co.uk/site...ey_system.html

I tried it on a Shimano indexed 7 speed system a while back and didn’t work too well but in yesterday’s short test on the 6 speed friction group, worked just fine. I’m hoping it’s a place holder until I can get my climbing legs back and put the Super Record crank and RD on, but time will tell.

Took a nice short local trail ride on the Nishiki SS Beater hard to believe I have beat on this one for over ten years and it has about !0,000 beater miles on it a bike that has a hard life but still looks good. Yes that is a red Cat Eye red reflector stock a bit dorky but I like keeping a bi of vintage dork oem on my bikes.

Still no snow cover and it's Christmas season first time in 100+ years.

Threw should be snow at least a foot .

My friend's wife had an interest in scat ID and tracking. I had some pretty comical discussions with her on a snowshoe hike in Washington. Being Colorado, you sure it's not bear?

Back out on the Mercian today in sub-freezing temps for a quick jaunt with a friend. From atop Peter’s Hill in Arnold Arboretum:

This year, I did my big road trip to see family for Thanksgiving, so I'm left to entertain myself on Christmas. I'm kind of relieved; it's a rotten time to travel on the west coast right now. I did a little local travel this morning on the vivid De Bernardi, taking advantage of the holiday to get the roads and paths all to myself.

That big storm coming in from the Pacific reached up over Baja California and made it rain all day here yesterday. The rain stopped overnight, but everything was still all wet this morning... or underwater.

I was on the Greenbelt in Scottsdale, which is great almost all the time, with underpasses under all the major roads, but it's also the area's main drainage channel. Get a moderate amount of rain, and the path turns into a river.

That's okay, I can detour up on the roads... oh.

Plan C: wet feet. At least I had the wool socks this morning.

Nope. Time for another detour.

These feral geese were fearless. Don't they know what day it is??

My poor bike got so dirty! Seriously, it's never been this dirty before.

Light fog rolled in as I turned south to Tempe. This is unusual weather for us, so I climbed up to the top of a parking garage to admire the view until a security guard came and told me to get lost. There's no sneaking around on this bike.

Nice weather with 40's with snow on the ground. Took a quick Christmas ride in the snow it's nice to finally have some snow on the ground.

Only one on the bike trail nice fresh powder.
