Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hard to believe it's only been 24 hours here at the beach. It feels like days. I finally can see why people travel to Mexico and make chemically induced merriment the entire time. For me though, it gets old. I feel the need to move..I appear to be the only one.

Only 56 miles today with a bit of climbing. Just 2 of us rode locally, our other regulars were heading for the beach or mountains and we didn't want to do any of the club rides. My friend wasn't feeling well and I was able to out climb him. I always feel bad when I drop someone who usually drops me. Anyway the heat wasn't too bad until the last few climbs coming back into our valley.
We stopped at a gazebo near the top of the last hill to get water, but the water was off. I watched several riders finishing the climb and many of them were wobbling and looking shaky.

Where is the video feature? I recorded a special clip during my activity and I don't see how to attach it.

Last night's ride on the Litespeed, the relative silence of the drivetrain allowed me to hear a *tick, tick, tick* sound, in sync with the wheels. It was not audible at <11 mph, nor at >22. I stopped 3 or 4 times to look for what it could be, running my hands over the tires and rim of both wheels, but mostly the front. Nothing. Plenty of pad clearance, no loose decals, no bits in the tires, no lumps on the tires, nothing on the rim. Eventually, I decided there was nothing compromising the tires or wheels, so I stopped holding back.

At home, I went over the tires as carefully as I could, and all I could find was a small cut, maybe 2-3 mm long, not as deep as the casing. No swelling, no bump, but the cut angled into the rubber so there's a very slight 'flap'. I'm pretty sure that's it. So, the tire is fine, lots of life left in it, but there's an annoying *tick* in the speed range I mostly find myself. I'm wondering whether it might work to Superglue the flap down. Anyone ever tried that?
one of my buddy's swears by shoe goo. It keeps things filled in and the garbage that could cause a flat out.

There's a mismatch between the content I desire to see and the content actually posted here.

You wanted lawn pictures. I posted a lawn picture. It's just that it also includes Benson.

I suspect I'm not really using the Challenges in Strava in the intended spirit. I signed up for 4 today, 3 of which are complete and one will be tomorrow.
