12 total miles, but only 10 miles were "exercise" miles.

I had hoped to start today's ride at 12:01AM but neglected to set my phone alarm and as a result I began at 12:51AM. Not a bad night at all being a little cooler than expected at 77F and a Waning Gibbous moon at 68% visibility. The ride was progressing nicely when at just 1hr 5minutes 45seconds into the ride and 17.25 miles completed I executed a 10 score-right side TOMBAY. The 2018 Roubaix Expert was properly protected as I employed a text book impact maneuver landing on my less than 2 year old completely new right shoulder and the 68yo right hip with an added bump on the helmet AND even managed to remain clipped in with my left foot all to the amusement of a early morning driver. After a few moments of looking like a fish out of water I unclipped, got up, reset the chain and was off to complete the additional 107.26 miles for a 125.51 mile total.

Will see how the shoulder feels in the next few days and if need be I will see the ortho a bit earlier than my October 10th, 2 year check-up.

I try to get the Strava Fondo challenge out of the way on the 1st or 2nd every month. A brisk 102 miles this morning, still on the train headed home as I type this.

Oh so you ride one way and come back using another mode of transportation? I mostly (well, actually all I do ) is go somewhere and come back to my point of origin so unless it's a calm day (doesn't happen often when riding by a river), I always get head winds for some part of the ride.

Btw, if you have a Garmin device or watch, 100 miles ride will give you 8 points. I'm at level 3, 29 points missing to reach level 4.

Yeah, one of my favorite rides is to ride from home down to San Clemente or Oceanside or somewhere in between. Or ride to my wife’s work using the longest route possible when she’s working a Saturday. I love the one-way ride. I don’t need to try to keep any gas in the tank— I can just hammer it. Today’s 102 miles took me 5h16m. I’ve almost spent as much time on trains. LOL

Do people leave a few empty rows around you or do you have a place to shower before embarking? I can only guess you must be a sweaty mess after a 102 miles ride in just 5h 16m

The Metrolink (commuter trains) have Bike Cars that will hold ~20 bikes. When I first got on, there were around 15 bikes on there. By the time we made it to the end of the line, it was me and one other guy.

A $10 pass lets you ride as much as you want over the weekend-- so I wasn't even the worst smelling person on there. I think.

A hilly 60 this morning, which turned out to be slightly ill-advised since I did a fast and hilly 24 last night. I don't think I gave enough time for my leg muscles to replenish their glycogen levels, and the last ten miles (uphill) today were tough.

Lesson learned: Don't eat a light dinner, and then complete one hard 24 mile ride at 10:00pm, eat a PB&J sandwich and go to bed, getting up at 6:30am to a bowl of cereal, and then set out on a hilly 60 miler with a cliff bar, banana, gatorade, and gummy fruit. Just not enough time and food to carry me through the final 10 miles comfortably. This coming weekend I'll eat a little more, and back off the Friday night ride to, say, 15 slower miles.

Colonial Parkway

Jamestown Island
I road about 49 miles of the Colonial Parkway. I started at the Colonial Williamsburg visitors center so I could stop for water. Cold water in my cooler on the car. Good ride but the parkway is rough on 23mm tires.

15 miles on the Sirrus Elite today. 10 was at an "exercise" pace and the remaining 5 were joyride miles.

Glad it wasn't too serious, and you were able to continue on. Hope the shoulder was okay.

Squeezed in 50k after work yesterday. Flat ride for the most part, just trying to make the most of the remaining light.

33 miles.

How did the states adopt the use of "k" when referring to a marathon or when using it in a fitness discussion involving distances?

Way to go, keep it up!

In my opinion (and lots of others too) there's nothing better for the body, mind and soul. Earthly, that is. Everything about it is rewarding and just plain FUN!
