Holidale. that's a gooder.
Since you're "super" local, make your way to Blue Spruce Brewery on County Line and Colorado (easy diversion from the C470 trail at Colorado). They have a Belgian that is sublime: https://www.bluesprucebrewing.com/bl...e/beer-on-tap/

Also, Prost just opened a biergarten near Broadway and C470. Love almost all of their brews. My all time favorite though would be Odell's 90 Shilling.

current "great eight" san diego county breweries (imho) in no particular order:
alesmith, pure project, eppig, pizza port, societe, alpine, modern times and fall
just on the outside looking in (in no particular order): burgeon, stone, thorn, harland and the hop concept/lost abbey.
extra credit/bonus points to eppig and fall for having tasty lagers from day one as well.
extra extra bonus points to eppig for having the best tasting room in sd county (altho those stone properties are swanky).

lost abbey has the best stouts IMO and Stone (both 76/15 area) most impressive indoor/outdoor facility, the stone garden is spectacular
btw, stone vs port brewing/lost abbey shows the extremes for breweries, ie warehouse bar vs fancy large indoor/outdoor facility

Ooh, I'd LOVE to try that!
I was in Mexico City for a conference like 1999 or 2000, and could not get enough of the street vendor treat of a paper cone of mango slices (freshly cut from a tree-ripened local mango before your eyes with a machete!) and a spritz of lime and a dusting of chili. Also they had these like homemade otter-pops, canteloupe (?) flavored, so delicious and refreshing!

Paulaner makes quality beer for cheap especially considering its from Germany.
I also like the HW and its cool that most that it can be found in many grocery stores

Picked this one from the 'cellar' tonight.

I couldn't tell you if it is any different from fresh since I haven't had a fresh one since 2006 either, but it tastes great and smooth. (Still working on it...)

Stouts have a habit of aging well. IPAs, on the other hand, should be enjoyed fresh.
