How does one 'make a notch' on their bar end plugs? Can someone link a video instruction?

I Bought these Odyssey screw-in bar ends but they won't fit into my bars, the side wall is too thick. I'm thinking of buying some plug-in styles but also worried they won't initially fit so I'll have to make that notch.
