Riding with my droogs. Doing a little of the old ultra-cycling. Just being able to do a hard route. And staying fit by doing all that. I also like kinetic sports, the speed, the motion, the control. It's an analogue of Alpine skiing. I also like bike touring, which is a completely different thing, being able to go places slowly enough to look at them under my own power. That's sorta like backpacking, except one gets to cover more territory in the time available and see civilization instead of wilderness. also a pleasure.

Someone mentioned a similar experience above but I think it has to do with the point at which my brain quiets down and I'm just in the moment, by myself, pushing this machine along, experiencing the change of weather/season and passage of time on the trail.

In no particular order, mine would be:
1) A leisurely ride through beautiful scenery.
2) Riding with my buddies.
3) Enjoying the fresh air and getting a bit of exercise.

For road biking, it is always the scenery. I ride up near Breckenridge, Vail, Copper Mountain, most non-winter weekends. Always the scenery. Actually, it is the same with Mountain biking as well.

It's a place I get to only by cycling, it's in my head. It is looking like I will get in a Christmas ride this afternoon. Forecast is for around 30 with light wind and sunshine.
