I bought this Nishiki FS2 about 20 years ago & just stored it as a restoration project. I believe i's a top line factory race bike with full Shimano XTR. It's a little small for me & I could use the space. The bike is all original except the seat,
tires & pedals according to factory specs. The frame & paint are almost perfect. The Cromolly swing arm has some surface rust. Was $3K when new in early 90's. If I were to part with it, what should I expect? Thanks

Original price does not reflect current value. Around here, maybe $200 (local sale). The MTB world has changed dramatically since the early 1990s. Serious MTBs would not be interested. That leaves recreational riders (cheapskates) and an occasional collector or parts hound. IMO, the early 1980s is where collectors live, and then boutique brands like Ritchie and others, along with Stumpjumper and Klein. I'd be in the parts hound category on this one.

XTR parts are likely worth more. Suspension parts do not age well, I see a lot of rim brake wear, rust is a negative, and it needs a general refresh.

In my limited experience with the south Florida market, its a beach cruiser market. Very soft for road and older MTBs. And you see a lot of rust near the coast.
