Did a nice ride in the foothills of my area yesterday with a 32 mile route that climbs 2800’ over its course. I was taking a break at one point and met this young man on a unicycle doing the same ride !

I've done Colorado's Iron Horse Classic Road Race several times -- 48 miles, goes over two mountain passes of almost 11,000 feet...And this guy would do it on his unicycle. Pretty impressive feat.

There's a uni rider that posts on the NY Metro forum, he rides the South and North Country rail trials, 60 some odd miles, from NYC to a metro train, which he takes back to NYC. That's a remarkably long way on a unicycle, you need to be in great shape to do that.

Rydabent would probably have apoplexy if he saw a bike like that. But even he would have to admit that the rider won't be staring down at his wheel.

Poor guy! He'll never have to argue disc or rim brake, wax or oil a chain, drop bar or flat bar, stem lengths, or what bar mount for his GPS and other gadgets.
I suppose he could get in on a tube or tubeless discussion. Or maybe whether profiled tubing would make him more aero!

He is not wearing kit, so Rydabent could probably accept him.

Firm but gentle
i don't get it (unicycling a long distance), it doesn't sound like a good time to me. It's like riders who do centuries on fixed gear bikes. Doing something, and enjoying doing something are entirely different.

He looks to be enjoying himself. Bet he doesn't care if you get it.

Last summer I was riding a local trail - came around a corner and met a female unicycle rider juggling three indian clubs while riding up the trail. I've had to dodge deer, groundhogs, owls, drunks, loose dogs, and phone zombies on the trails, but this one beats them all!
