Kick stands
Do any of you have kick stands on your road bikes, or wish that you had a kick stand? Today at work I was told to get a kickstand or park my bike elsewhere, he must have knocked it around and struggled to balance it. i told him I couldn't get a kick stand because its very unfashionable, but honestly he is right the bike is kind of annoying to balance without a kick stand. What's the big idea here? I even see this trend on the low end "fast hybrids" the cheapest model used to have a kickstand and 6 years later the same model has no kickstand!

I have a color matched one that fits on the chain stay ND side. I'm less concerned about weight than my bike falling over. In fact, most of my bikes have stands. I'm not into fashion, more into practicality haha.

Just flip it upside down and rest it on the handle bars and seat. Don’t need any stinken kick stand.
Or as I saw on a carbon Domane e-bike today. A kick stand that somehow attached inside the rear disc brake caliper mount.

Can you get a removeable stand you could leave at work? I had a stand like that for my dirt bike but I left it in the desert one day.

I've never found myself wanting for one. There's always been a wall, or ledge, or bike rack I can prop my bike against.
That said, I don't leave my roadie anywhere long and it tends to mostly be at cafes.

I fought it for years. Tried click stand at one time. Since making the decision to add one to my city bike and touring bike, I couldn’t be happier. I have not found a need to add one to my recreational bike since most of the time I get on and off from home.
Yes, the kickstand has been a worthwhile addition and outweighs (pun intended) any disadvantage.

It’s less a matter of fashion and more a matter of nonessential weight. My guess is you should probably get one as you don’t strike me as the weight weenie type anyway. Function over fashion.

If it is good, if not please nobody do that. Bad idea.
Road bikes don't need kickstands unless it has full fenders, a standard road bike like you might see if you did a search in images on the googles for "road bike" has a rear wheel with rubber on it that will hold up a bike against most surfaces I have ever used. If for some reason I really need to put a bike down I just lay it down on the NDS and bing bang boom it is not going anywhere. Though I haven't had to do that with any of my road bikes aside from maybe in a car.
A touring bike I might consider a kickstand or a bike I might be loading up with gear a lot or especially on an electric bike but beyond that I am not really a fan of kickstands and on a mountain bike they can be dangerous. I don't need or want the extra weight for little benefit. If I am locking up the bike the kickstand will push it away from what you are locking to and is not needed and at home there are a bunch of stands and ways to mount it or I am locking it up. Beyond that I am generally near the bike and would rather just lean it.
