My new road bike project: the 1992 C.T. Wallis

Good Morning Everyone
For my 44th birthday, I wanted another road bike. I wanted something very unusual and high end. Many of the steel frames I have seen in columbus sp,sx, el but which were too expensive. I chose a very special frame made of a special tubeset the Reynolds 731OS

I didn't wanted a tig welded road frame but either a fillet brazed or lugged frame,my choice went with the CT Wallis.Outstanding condition and high quality tubing,CT Wallis was a reputed frame builder often building road bikes and touring bikes.

A very nice and highly uncommon frame plus it is made of Reynolds tubing.
Have a nice day
Very best regards and stay safe
Georges

Cool frame. Not used to seeing top tub internal brake routing starting on the drive side (since I go left-rear, that's something I notice).

What a beautiful frame. Very clean work on it and I love the paint scheme. Gives lots of options on bar tape color! Anxious to see what your plans are for it. Will it be period correct or perhaps modernized? Or maybe even sport an IGH?

That's a beauty. Someday I hope to have a frame where the seat tube goes higher than the top tube like that. I like that look.

That stem is like jewelry to me. Elegant yet functional with the height markings. Form and function at their best I'd say. And how can you go wrong with the Dura Ace components you've planned. What are your thoughts on bar tape? Practical, like black, or perhaps something to tie in with the frame colors?

I've never seen that stem before. And of course I'm a fan of Dura Ace 7700 (except for the bottom bracket. Have you considered a BB-6500?). This looks to be an amazing bike. I love those fork dropouts.

Very neat having your seat-tube water bottle bosses installed nice and low, with a f.d. braze-on mount to keep the mech clear.

Very nice and outstanding condition are gross understatements. Did you or the previous owner repaint it or is it just that well preserved?

That bike is beautiful and so much like what I try to find. Just visited the site I think you got it from and they do have some beauties there.

Congrats and a great find, I love Red, White, and Blue bikes!

It has never been repainted ,it is that well preserved and completely original, so yes it is a very outstanding condition regarding the age, the frame is 30 years old.

One of the most important thing is the stem, my choice for the CT Wallis was the legendary ITM Goccia which was proposed in the late 90's to early 00's and used by prestigious bike manufacturers. It adds class to the bike and added height to a bike frame which is smaller than what I ride usually

Next steps will be in February

One shouldn't risk life and limb riding a bike that's too small for them. I'll gladly take it off you hands to save you the danger.

Seriously though, keep those build pics coming. Can't wait to see this finished up.

In all honesty, I ride a hybrid and my all round city bike that are smaller sized than my road bikes that I ride usually.I have adapted to my fit these smaller sized bikes. I am 1 m 80 and can't ride anything above 57cm in road bikes and can"t ride anything above 19-20 in MTB. When I see plus 60cm road frames or even 22 MTB I am wondering how tall are some guys. You won't be disappointed by the results of the final assembly of the CT Wallis.
