Hey, where's the Sixty Plus (60+) forum?
I coulda sworn there used to be a 60+ forum here, and maybe even a 70+ forum as well. Did someone lose them? 🤔
Never mind, I'm 61 now (for a couple/few days), so it's a little late to gripe about it, I guess. 😋😁

This was on my mind recently with sequential injuries to my back and neck. At 50+ (just 3 weeks ago) I was invincible.
Yesterday, I looked in the mirror and saw an old man
64 1/2 y.o.

I don't know, but I do look back at 50 and wonder why 50 year old kids need a forum due to advancing age.

It took 5 years to decide whether to have it or not. By then, those that were 60, were 65.

Since the full age for social security is creeping up, should the "65 and over" thread be inflated to "66 years and 4 months and older"?

yeah I hear ya. at 50, due to an intense, multi-year effort, for a body transformation, I was in the best shape of my life. now, approx.15 years later? not so much. haven't back-slid too badly, but still ...

There is a 60 plus Facebook group, a 65 - 100 + Facebook group, a 70 and an 80 all on Facebook. There is also a huge 50 plus forum on Facebook, with about 30,000 participants. I moderate the 65 to 100 plus group. As someone mentioned it took a while to even form the 50 plus group on bikeforums.net, with a lot of arguing and disagreement. At that time they were not so many older riders as there are now, and a lot of people thought their bicycle life had finished at 50, or were hesitant to start bicycling at 50. The group was started to encourage those 50 plusers to start and keep going. I am 83yo. I started riding when I was 58, with my first challenge being the 1998 Ride The Rockies that same year.

gobicycling Facebook?! That is old man.
I kid you because my students tease me by claiming I must be on Facebook due to my advanced age.

I guess I should just quit whining then, huh? 😁😉
I did have some good luck, in the arthritis department, recently. I started taking Meloxicam, and it seems like it's working pretty good for me. 🙂
It's along the lines of Aleve, but stronger. Not a narcotic, either, somewhere in between the two, so it kills the pain, without turning ya into a zombie, lol. 🤪😁😉

Change this 50+ to 55+. Problem solved.
I actually was 50 when I started riding way farther. 120 miles is still not too hard some days.

And ^this^
I didn't much like the idea of crossing the 50 threshold when it happened. I really didn't like crossing the 60 threshold which seemed to have happened about 3 years after crossing 50. Heck, it seems high school was about a decade or so ago (Take note youngsters, life is SHORT!). I'm content to hang in the 50 plus group and leave it at that.

The scary thing for me is, I joined this forum when I just turned 50. Now I'm 67.

In about a year I'll be looking for the 70+ forum.
