What was your total elevation gain (in units of miles or km)?

I am trying to get a sense for what is typical, at least amongst those who keep track of these kinds of statistics.

I only started keeping track at the beginning of October but I have exceeded 71,000’ at this point.
Hoping to add some more before end of year but have a heavy storm coming in.

Around 200,000 ft. I usually get around 300,000 but with a toddler and being sick for 3 months, it was about all I could get in.

I don't think there's any typical. I ride in northern Colorado where 80 feet per mile is common, so my 5700 miles would easily reach around 456,000. I just started using a Garmin 530 in October, so I have the total ascent on all of my regular routes. One route has about 160 feet per mile for 30 miles, but then it's mostly downhill for the next 24. Most areas don't have a halfway point that's over 2500 feet higher elevation in only 22 miles, and a total ascent of over 3000, with all of the undulations.

I live near Lake Tahoe and even with that 276+ would be a lot of riding.

i set a goal of 7K miles and 500k feet. i will make that but it was not easy. next year i'm planning on just riding but the challenge is so hard to pass up. i though about 1 million feet but can't see that happening.

In the middle of the year, I moved from a very hilly area to a flat area. In the hilly area I was usually around 7k-8k miles per year with around 450k feet of climbing. I expect that my first full year here on the flatlands (2023) will probably be under 100k climbing.

Fun story: back in the hilly part of the country, I once went out on a big climbing event (group ride, but a big one) that is always held right before Christmas- so, right near the year's end. After the ride, we were in the parking lot, looking at our computers, and a guy said, "Hey, I hit 10,000 miles today...And a million feet of climbing." That impressed the hell out of me.

Maybe. It's just flatter here too. Most of my solo gravel riding ends up at 50-70'/mile of climbing and 70 is plenty for me. I can't imagine averaging 100'/mi. My goodness.

354k today, should manage to hit 360k which was the target. around 60 feet per mile. commutes excluded.

220k ft over 5800 miles for 38 ft/mile. Back when I lived in Indiana, it ranged from 14 to 19 ft/mile. I expect those years when I managed 19, I rode a fair number of miles in Kentucky.

I should extract the data for the 11 months I lived in west Texas, where I had to ride 10 miles from home to find anything remotely resembling a climb. But if I had a measure of headwind miles, west Texas would be killer.

Appears that the majority climb 200,000’ to 300,000’ with a few over achievers, whom can be excused for their exuberance. And we can rightly safely assume that anyone not responding to this thread, but opened it to look, are so humiliated, so broken, so humbled that they are considering changing sports to shuffleboard or lawn bowling.
