Addiction LXXVIII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What are you guys doing for the fourth?

Were having family over and a family that recently move for missouri for burgers, hot dogs, sausages, deviled eggs, italian pasta salad, cole slaw, cake, ice cream, and smores.

Was hoping to take Amelia to see fire works, but finding Parking would be an issue, and her bed time is 8 so trying to keep her awake til 9 is dangerous to my sanity.

We bought some noise makers, but you can’t even find sparklers here anymore. I was shocked that you can’t buy them.

I don't get it. Hate it when I see it, too.

It will be the first time I bring a bike on vacation with me, I'm pretty excited to ride somewhere new.

I've got a bunch of bottle rockets and black cats that I'm always too askeered to set off. Plus I don't really like how aerial fireworks end up spreading so much debris.

A short climbing ride in the morning with one friend, the same woman I went mountain biking with last week. We'll probably do 50 miles but with options to add to it. I'm the limiter, she can climb like it's no big deal.
I was invited to a wedding/ 4th party with people from all over. I'd love to see them but I'll probably pass.

Was at an Aldis today and signs on the door stated mask required and no personal grocery bags allowed. I estimated about 35% without masks and another 10-15% with masks either over mouth only or on just the chin. Reusable sacks were still being used by many patrons.

My wife told me to mind my own business until I pointed out the lady picking her nose over the produce.

We're doomed...

Last week I’ve come across a group ride of 8-9, err, citizens of mature ages. Chatting away about their grandkids, riding very close to each other at a leisurely pace.

I can’t believe we’ve managed to last 6 million years on this planet.

Ugh, I'm currently fighting a battle about how to carry bikes up there. Everyone else wants to use a hitch mount, top tube clamping rack on my mother's Buick. I'd rather use my truck and strap things down in the bed. Problem is that the Buick would be very comfortable, my truck is loud, bumpy, and not great for long trips.

My MTB has a drastically sloping top tube and my wife's bike is a mixte with double top tubes so I'm not terribly confident on the attachment mechanism for the hitch mount rack. And my Trek is fendered and has had a lot of work done to it - it would be absolutely heartbreaking if it got damaged in any way.

It's about a 5 hour drive one-way. Maybe I'm being paranoid.
