Yesterday the building put out tons of mini sandwiches, cookies, scones, croissants, cake (in the shape of bread) and spiced cider in the lobby. That's what I ate for lunch. Wasn't feeling well when I got home from my ride in the evening!

Down to 161 (from 177); 6 pounds off my goal and 11 off my rock bottom (which probably isn't rock bottom) race weight. Once I started tracking calories and getting real volume on the bike it's been dropping fast. It doesn't feel like it because the weight loss isn't a straight line; some days its up 2 pounds, then down 1, etc.

Well, another day of eating. So much German sausage and beer at the office lunch, then celebrated a ginormous bonus by spending 1% of it at dinner. Too much food, too much alcohol. Good thing I have a long weekend to burn off this crap!

Didn't feel like cooking tonight, so snacked for a bit on half a banana, mushrooms and olives, trail mix salami. Finally decided to slap together some real calories and it was so good I have to do it better next time!
Two slices toast with avocado, warmed sardines in olive oil and minced garlic with lemon drizzled over.
To drink, gin, orange liqueur, sugar, lemon, a dash of lemon bitters, and soda. Stirred with ice.
Next time I'm toasting the bread a bit more, add some black pepper. Maybe some hot pepper sauce. But not bad for a 5 minute meal!

2nd week without meat with the interest of never having another gout attack. gonna take some time to figure this out. last week I ate an entire loaf of bread by myself. it's taken all of this week to recover from that

Trying to kick ingrained habits used to sustain lengthy cold weather rides on top of cutting out all the livestock feed that encompasses typical Midwestern fare. Starting to long for the days of gnawing on dark chocolate mid-ride and washing down juicy cheese covered slabs of red meat with a Belgian quad.
Oatmeal, you are not my one true love.

My house smells so good.
I am braising short ribs. Lots of tomatoes, Spanish rioja wine, and balsamic vinegar in the braising liquid along with the usual carrots, celery, rosemary, thyme, and lots of red onion.

*bump*
Here is the companion thread to weight loss status exhumed from the BF archives.
Over the holiday weekend, wife and I wanted to “go out” / have a glass of wine / appetizer. Locally, restaurants are open but a couple of our favorites need reservations in advance and we wanted to be spontaneous. We finished at the gym and walked to a restaurant but it was closed on the Holiday. I do not get that.
We found a wine bar / gelato / appetizer place and I had a glass of wine and a small two scoop gelato of tiramisu and dark chocolate. I have not had gelato for about a decade.
