Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

MRI at the time might have been a better indicator of any issues once bone fracture was ruled out.

Yes, I'm a doctor but not a medical doctor.

I reset it from 30% to 40%, after I saw it completely removed the Forward Sprint from the ZA Finish Line ride - 24 seconds of 800W average. I'm proud of that effort!

I definitely categorize myself as a "all rounder". All of me is rounder that it used to be. As for bike skills, I'm definitely of the sprinter variety, with peak power above 1200w.

EDIT: Holy moly! I just looked at my power curve for all of 2021. It says my peak power is 1843w. I don't believe it. Seriously. I think it's an error with my PowerTap hub.

If you can look through the Zwift or Strava summaries and you don't see any weird power spikes, it's probably fine to give yourself a larger margin of error. IIRC, I lifted my limit a little bit and then bumped in to it again. Lifted it again. Bumped in to it again. Finally I got to the point when I just said "**** it" and turned it off or put it at 200% or something.

FWIW, I've never seen a weird power spike with my power meter, though I suppose a smart trainer might be more prone to that kind of error, because of how they're calculating power.

I've never seen unexplained power spikes with the Snap, but I have seen unexplained cadence spikes. I think the battery in the sensor might have been dodgy, because it gave readings in the thousands for a couple seconds when I was just starting rides a couple times. I guess I understand the reasoning behind it but the reasoning seems kind of circular.

As one of the Addiction resident physicians, my personal bias is that imaging (and testing) is OVER-rated by patients. More valuable is talking to the patient, getting a good history, and a good but focused physical exam is usually better than imaging and tests. YMMV.

I still haven't gotten around to unlacing my old Dura Ace wheels from the Ritchey so I can rebuild the wheels, which I really SHOULD do. Or buy a new wheelset for it and be done. But those hubs are so sweet!!!

I don’t know, Just going off what she said. It’s a different doctor that the one that originally looked at the x rays.

I’m just happy to have accurate power data again. It seems as though my V3 have been dropping a significant amount of data for a while. So while NP looks okay, averages have been low and effort power has been off too.

I've seen some wonky cadence stuff with the Elite, too; mostly it just bounces around a little more than it should, though I do see the occasional spike (though never *that* high). With the power, I can set the Elite trainer to grab the signal off of the Power2Max, which is more accurate, it's just unfortunate that I can't do the same for cadence.

My doctor said, "You're too fat!"

I said, "I want a second opinion!"

He said, "Okay, you're ugly, too!"
