Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's not that Harleys and Guzzis are slow, it's a different culture.

I like mine with butter, salt, and pepper only. No need for sour cream, chives, bacon bits, etc.

Nice! My olde switcher identification skills ain't what they used to be. I'd guess SW1500, but I don't remember the radiator section being quite like that...

I like Yukon golds boiled til 80% done, then sliced and fried in olive oil, seasoned with sea salt and pepper, sometimes I'll throw in some fresh rosemary from the front yard, and occasionally squirt lemon juice on 'em

I found a page that says it was built in 1977 and originally owned by the Kenecott Copper Mining Company. The notation with it is "GP39N (EMD Built GP39-2, UP Jenks Shop Rebuilds." I have no idea what that means because I know nothing about trains.

Edit: I did find this info: "Pictures of UP 1202. PORTLAND OR Aug 20 1981 -- Union Pacific SW10 1202 handles a cut of cars at Albina Yard with the Fremont Bridge overhead. The unit was rebuilt (b/n 18854) at the UP’s shops in Omaha NB from SW9 UP 1866 on Jan 25 1980. It was retired on July 13 1998 and went to Farmers Grain Co-Op, Cruger (Eureka) IL in August 1998."

And, Cruger Station is where I took the pic.

SW10 sounds right, pretty cool that it used to work the Albina yard!

Wow, hauling 5-gallon buckets on a flatbed like this sounds like a terrible idea... I wonder if they ever shut down the freeway, it sure got a nice paint job.

Yeah, the first notation I found appears to be for a different engine. I found the following info along with pics of it at Cruger Station:

Owner: Union Pacific Railroad Company
Model: Rebuilt EMD SW10
Built As: UP 1866 (SW9)
Serial Number: 18854
Order No: 4216
Frame Number: 4216-20
Built: 10/1953

I had my consultation 1 week ago today. They were supposed to call me that afternoon to schedule my diagnostic procedure. Nope. I called them back the next day asking to be scheduled and left a voice mail. No return call. Yesterday after the holiday weekend I called and left another message. No response. At the end of the day I sent a message through the patient portal. Nothing. I left another message today suggesting a date. I waited all day today. Crickets.

Those bastards will hear from me once this is over. Generally, after a positive experience a customer will tell one person about it. They are called evangelists. After a negative experience a customer will tell 10 people. They are called terrorists.

And the self-service ones are the ones nearest the exits. You have to go by them to get out of the building.

You think that's bad? A couple weeks ago I scheduled an infusion for Thursday morning. This afternoon someone left a message saying it's a no-go because there will be no nurse there Thursday. SMH.
