I believe it was established there was no bike lane at the location involved and bike lanes were not an issue other than a false statement by the lawyer. I questioned and still question how it was determined that any so-called rideshare vehicle, driver or passenger was involved at all, other than the law firm/lawyer in question, who went on TV News to publicize his complaint and apparently provided the copy for the talking head at the station, specializes in suing people involved with ridesharing operations.

If there was a Lyft vehicle/driver involved I would have thought it wouldn't be that difficult to get it and the driver identified for legal purposes. This lawyer keeping such information a secret? Not a chance!

That's true, it was not a bike lane, the road had a Sharrow symbol painted in the lane.

What "prediction" are you claiming to be "kind" about? If I had a dime for every cryptic, spacey comment made on BF by someone who thought he was being cute or clever, I'd have a lot dimes.

In the the meanwhile, in the absence of evidence of any followup from any source, it does appear that this "shocking" incident of "bad driving" by a Lyft driver has faded away after it turned out to be not as proclaimed in the initial press releases.

Good idea but it can only be seen if the car occupant looks on the mirror before opening.

My riding tenets for the last 50+ years of road riding. These were developed through trial and error, mistakes, crashes and observations:
-

• NEVER trust a stopped car with a driver.
• Never pass a stopped car on the right, bike lane or no bike lane, without slowing down first and anticipate and be ready for the worst.
• Never pass a parked car with a driver unless I have at least 3 feet.
• Never try to turn right on red with a vehicle trying to do the same. Eventually I will lose.
• Never run a red light unless there is no traffic and no cars. Eventually I will lose.
• Never run a stop sign unless there is no traffic and no cars. (Man, I have seen some gnarly stuff at stop signs)
• Never flip-off a car driver, ever. Eventually I will lose.
• Never believe that a driver sees you even if they are looking right at you. My bike and I are invisible.
• Never just "follow the pack" across a street or an intersection. I am not a lemming, I am a human so look both ways first, dummy.
• Always ride in single file unless it is not safe to do so.
• Never, and I do mean never take my eyes of the road ahead of me. And, never stop focusing on what my tire is about to run across.
• Never trust my bike if I worked on it after the last ride. Check everything I worked on again to make sure everything is tight.

Anyone have any they want to add? Bring it on!

• Never ride fast into low visibility conditions: glare, blind corner, blind crossings, sudden light/dark changes like tunnels, etc.
• When the sun is low on the horizon, my shadow points at people who can’t see me. At times that can require getting off the road completely until the sun sets or rises enough.
