Nice, but a little more genteel than I was going for.
Anyway for the moment I have stolen the no name Milan-ish bars from my urban mtb, so I am probably OK for now after all.

NEED a couple smalls for a Campy Veloce RD, (seems to be a short cage model RD-01VL but there are no markings on it or a mfg date/code):
1.the cable adjuster barrel and spring (I think other models of RD used this same bit)
2 the cable clamp nut and washer (it has the bolt). A regular metric hex nut fits but is not wide enough to clamp a cable

HAVE all kinds of spare parts, especially some recent assorted canti brakes but just ask for something of "equal value" and I will see what the bins may hold!

Looking for a Sovos/Mavic front wheel

Looking for a mate to an orphan wheel is a little like hoping to fill an inside straight in poker. But I'm a hopeful guy. I'm in search of a front wheel with a Sovos hub laced to a Mavic MA 2 rim. The existing rear has 36 spokes, but I would take a 32-hole front. The outside width of the rim seems to be about 19-20mm, as best I can measure around the tire. I have trade goods.

Heck, if you have a matching front and really want my wheel, we can probably work out a trade around that.

looking for a sport lx crank set

This week I picked up a 1989 Trek 420 that doesn't seem to need a whole lot, except that the crankset seems to have been swapped out for a Shimano mountain LX crankset, which is a triple. The rest of the group set was regular old Shimano sport lx so if I can I'd like to find a replacement that fits in with everything else or at least something comparable and of the same year. I'm happy to pay cash or I have some other stuff I can trade.

There are no such things as Sovos front hubs, I don't think...they seem to be non-existent, and I don't think it was because they were actually any good.

Sport LX was the Exage group with white accents wasn't it? According to the Trek catalog for 1989, it looks like it had a triple...

Jeez I must have missed it. I looked at the catalogue. Most of the letters are rubbed off but I do see the word mountain on it so I figured it was a swap out.

It may have been a swap-out, but the original Sport LX group probably didn't have a triple so maybe they specified a lower version biopace crank and a PO entered the Mountain LX? Honestly, I'd keep the triple...it's as close to original spec as you're going to get without downgrading, I think.

That's good advice. No sense in getting too particular over a nominal difference.

jdawginsc Sovos mostly made BMX hubs. Road hubs do exist but they're a bit harder to find.

I was mostly joking, but it seems I come across bikes with mismatched wheels, and there’s a Sovis rear in a lot, but something else in front. Weird.

Sovos was also a huge supplier of inexpensive fixed hubs during the fixie craze.

As I recall, Sovos cassette hubs are crimped on and not serviceable.

The closest thing to a white triple is likely this '93ish Exage ES crank. Also rare, but I've got one in used shape if you must have. It's an off white and has seen better days.

Appears to have been ready for some touring racks.

Front fork rack mounts.

Exotic paint on down tube.

Same paint scheme on rear stay.

Comes complete with a few battle scars. Maybe a bit of nail polish to repair?

Question - what is it?

It is a Cannondale sport tourer. It was lovingly owned by an older gentleman who bought it in 1987 in Charleston, along with his wife’s frame which has been posted here as well.

it was a well loved and used bike, and originally built with a combination of parts, mostly 600 EX, but upgraded and changed over the years. The owners son said his dad was devastated he could no longer ride it.

Way too big for me, I sent it tofMad Honk for re-homing to a new family.

The paint is beautiful though imperfect. And the graphics were custom items and relatively rare.

ditto to this request. I'm probably going to build up a set this winter. I pretty much never see them for sale anywhere.

It went off to steine13 earlier this week, and is now bouncing around in Perrysville, OH. The trip from Bloomington, IN to East Lansing is six hours but the frame went to Terre Haute and then to Perrysville. It won't make it by noon today which was the projected delivery time. I am hoping Stein gets it soon and is happy with it. Smiles, MH
