Dang, that is a great find. Are you going to pick it up? I would be all over that but if the seller is correct, that's a big boy bike.

Vintage ladies bicycle - works great. All original parts as far as we know - was left in a barn we purchased.

Nope. I won't be grabbing it. I gotta get rid of some of my fleet..I know N-1 is grounds for expulsion on this site, but I thought it looked like a good deal, so as a public service, I'm sharing. This forum is supposed to help point out the good stuff!

23 or 24" would be way too big for me, too bad. Great deal if that's your size.

Vintage Bicycle Frame Italian Racing Bike

I'd fit that frame. I usually ride a 24". However, it's old! I know Torpado has a reputation and all but unless it offers a spectacular ride wouldn't an old norco or miele etc,. do the same thing? This Torpado would be a true racing bike of the era I would imagine. It looks like that seller is parting it out; a wheelset of the same era/calibre is also listed seperately.

I saw the bike (I think same one) when it was listed in Fort Erie and it was gone very quickly. If same bike, it's a different wheel set. IIRC that was a tubular set. Should be an early 70's frameset, not sure year as don't know my Torpado history. Not sure ride would be that great compared to other bikes and the chrome has issue. Just figured it'd be pretty impressive with that lug work if completely rebuilt.........

Should have said that the wheel set is an 8 speed and while the frame could have been spread it would have been 120 when built.

Updater - its sold

Is it just me or is anyone else noticing a surge on the market of nice old bikes at a reasonable price? I don't need another bike but this one is alluring - good price ($100), real close to me and I think this would make an awesome drop bar gravel conversion.

Good deals to be had but I just know when I buy these bikes the frame and maybe headset and BB are just about the only things that would be left of the bike once the drivetrain is getting updated to 8 speed+... So a $100 bike can become a $500+ bike pretty quickly and no guarantee of good fit/comfort if you do the drop bar conversion.

Frogger72 this is true and based on that rust you can see on the wheel set of the Raleigh, I'm sure there's more not seen in the pictures. It's those chrome fenders that have me mesmerized.

That Schwinn you found would make a great conversion bike or just to ride around on the trails and road. I might have to stop looking now that the prices have come down. It was easy over the spring and summer because everything was stupidly priced so easy to pass over.

Yeah those fenders do look sweet, must be steel wheels? Glad the Schwinn isn't my size, basement is getting too full and the Fisher project bike I picked up has some issues for sure, like stripped derailleur hanger threads .

Assuming at bottom-end of Falcon line up? Posted as it's unusual and had never seen this version for sale before, guessing more likely from 60's or early 70's due to cottered cranks. Admit I'm tempted to grab for the seat and bars.....,

Update on the above Falcon. I believe it's a Black Diamond (Model 71) - not the Black Diamond (Model 70) mens bike which was 531
Owner believes bought it in 72 or maybe 73.

Price dropped to $30 and I went to view it today. Frame is generally quite nice but needs cleaning/full rebuild. I was intrigued by the saddle in the above photo but it is a San Marco made of plastic, not leather as I'd hoped.

Couldn't read name (if any was there) on cranks.
Pedals were no name, but white rubber padded which seemed to match the levers
Levers were Mafac Ville VDA
Brakes were Weinmann 730
Stem/seatpost unknown makers - both take Wentworth wrench size - 1/2in too big by a hair for bar stem and 9/16 too big by a hair for seat post binder bolt
Wheels were steel with branded hubs but could read names.

The real nice item was the headbadge which is an enamelled one (hopefully that photo came out ok as having trouble with cell)
Edit: My photo failed so this is an internet copy

Painted on drive side chainstay "Designed by Ernie Clements"
Painted on seat tube "Made in England" and it had a "Hamilton Cycle" sticker above that (a long closed cycle store)

For $30 I nearly bought it just to save it but have at least 5 frame sets now and 3 partial bikes so held firm. Anyone hungry I can supply owners telephone number
