Decipher Serial Number
I have not seen this serial number format on a Centurion before. It’s off a Centurion Elevator MTB. don’t have any pics. Any help interpreting it like where it was manufactured would help.
serial number SJ900983. Thank you.

In the USA, Centurion was owned by WSI. There, the Centurion brand was reserved for road bicycles, while Diamond Back was used for the ATBs. Consequently, I'm assuming that this is a foreign market model. The serial number format could be reverse enigneered several ways but October 1989 would be my first approach. That's late enough in the calendar year, that it would almost certainly be a 1990 model, With that name, it sounds like it should have elevated chain stays, which would be appropriate for the era.
