Doug, it would appear that the water pumping windmills were not doing their job well enough, going from your photo taken from the bike path......

The whole country is quite the engineering/water management feat isn't it? We found it fun going by all the restored really really old windmills (150, 200 year old ones) and the old steam engine pumping stations, and then seeing all the small electric pumping boxes near these old classic ones. Very cool.
We even passed a working big honking windmill set up to cut lumber. Didnt go in , but would be similar to the waterwheel powered ones you can see in some places.

I never said they weren't. Believe me when I say it can really bite.

Being on neurotic BF's is borderline......

Really nice photos, Doug. Beautiful countryside, out there. Got to love the "wilderness" areas where a road or path cuts through.

Have been through the Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops area a couple of times, myself, though not on a bike. Would love to have done a few longer-distance rides through BC and Alberta back when I was doing such trips. Some tougher mountainous roadways, in the region. But a good amount of gravel, hard-packed and "rail trails" around, as well.

I haven't posted here in quite awhile, but this feels worthy. I'm not sure what birds these are, not seagulls but similar. 🤔 In the American River, near Sacramento.

Straight from the iPhone. No manipulation.

The face your make when riding into 20-30 mph headwinds during a costal storm. Over the bridges I was reduced to 4 mph at times. And it was raining off and on.

yup, those times we've been reduced to riding in the small chainring on the flat due to headwinds is especially demoralizing. Not to mention all the constant shifting that is a real pain in the arse.

Saturday was beautiful, but today was tough. I knew it was coming, but I went for it anyway.

The park was pretty crowded because it was Halloween weekend. There were prizes for the best spooked out campsites. Someone must have canceled because I rolled up and got a lakeside site thanks to a ranger there I have known for years. Got some wood delivered and had a nice fire.

We were riding back to the motel after dinner in town, and it just kept getting better and better. We had been riding in the rain all day and a warm room sounded good

Can you hear me now?

I've found the problem, with the crappy cellular service at times. They power those cell towers with a wind turbine. 😲🤔 No wind, no cellular. 😁😉

BTW, this is leaving Vacaville, with the infamous state prison, where they kept Charles Manson. 😒
