Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It was massively popular though, so evidently there is an entire generation that only knows "Big Iron" as that Fallout: New Vegas song instead of one of the all-time classic Western songs ever.

Ashton Lambie, who just broke the 4k time trial world record in track, and used to work at a nearby LBS, is a big LOTR fan and his instagram handle (bahamalongbottom) is a reference to that. He also sometimes shows up to gravel races with a 55t chainring. The One Chainring to Rule Them All jokes have abounded.

Looking like new bike coming soon.

Originally planned on a madone project one. Wanted the benefit of buying local, but the madone is kinda of ugly.

First pick is the wilier filante slr with the zero in close second. On the wilier main site it advertises that you can get it with sram force 2x12 but on the usa site it only comes Di2. Price is similar but I would prefer the added power meter and I don’t really want cables. Looks like it would be a huge pain if an issue ever arose.
Caldonia 5 is a close contender if the wilier grows to costly.
BMC is also a possibility and I could buy that local, but the color is horrible, and after the fork recall I am a little turned off.

Still just in planning stage. Reached out to adrenalinebikes about the wilier build. Informed me they get the bike from wilier usa. Adrenaline says I can build it anyway I like but I’m a little confused on how that would work. I would want the original cockpit and wheels from wilier but just switch out the drive train. Not sure if they would do that or if that would increase the cost more than the 4 grand the sram force package already cost.
With that kind of budget, you don't want to overlook these guys.

FNV is one of my favorites. I've got ~500 hours in to it over the decade, according to my Steam account. I actually started another playthrough a few weeks ago, with a speech/intelligence build, one I haven't done before.

Edit: oh, and yeah, I only know Big Iron from FNV.

It's a banger. The game and the song. My wife bought me an Xbox right before the pandemic started so it was good timing. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and have always felt a little guilty about gaming because it was looked down upon but then I realized I'm 41 and I can do what I want and games are fun--that's why people play them.

With the exception of the TdF video game which everything I've ever read says it's terrible, every single year.

I know plenty of people completely happy with etap. If i could find a caledonia (not 5) frame for cheap, I'd build it up w/ Rival etap and the crank based PM and get rid of the R3. Reviews I read said that Rival actually shifts faster than force or red fwiw. Or you could buy a used R3 w/ carbon wheels and Di2...

The base game is good, but the DLCs really shine.

I've never felt guilty about gaming. I mean, I've had occasions where I've felt guilty about coming up for air and finding out that it was 3am... but no guilt about gaming in general. There's some great interactive storytelling out there.

Man, this time I was definitely stung on the throat, but at least on the outside, in that hollow between the clavicles. Damn thing got stuck in my jersey collar. This week is terrible.

looking for the whole package. Aero, integrated, good components. Plus it has to be sexy.

Considering the canyon aerodad as well, I wish the ultimate didn’t have the cables out.

But this bike in red or admiral blue………..

2 minivans, 5 most expensive MTBs, 5 most expensive road bikes might get me somewhat close to 8k Euro.

Both are very nice, Bam! Can't imagine any of those being "wrong." Love the blue colors.

Despite the comments of others, I encourage you to spend the money on one of those bikes. Then, we can all live vicariously through you. Plus, think of the contribution you'd be making to the financial stability of the bike industry. And, it's important to treat yourself at times!
