Loire french bike??

Anyone heard of the brand "Loire". The owner says it is a french aluminum framed bike. I don't have any other info. No pictures yet. google has failed me. Maybe someone here has heard of it here.

Check the Classic Rendezvous archives. That brand is mentioned several times:

Well I picked up the bike. Look to be quite an interesting combination of parts. Anyone know what might be original?

Vitus 979 frame
Looks like the fork is after market (cromo 4130).
don't know if either of the rims/hubs are original (back hub is Suntour the front rim/hub obviously newer mavic).
600 head set, sti down tube 600 shifters with 600 rear derailleur
campy front derailleur (anyone identify model behind all the caked grease/dirt?) - set to friction
mavic crank
mavic breaks / levers
ideale saddle (can anyone identify the model?)

here is the picture from the ad... I took a bit of a risk, but for $50 i think i did ok - even with all the odd and end parts.

France-Loire co-sponsored a team with SEM from 1981-1983, with Sean Kelly being a member for the last two years. Your bicycle just happens to be the team colour and sports some of the Mavic components used by the 1983 team. Unfortunately it doesn't have the panelized decals of the team bicycles and may be slightly newer. I'd be oufiftting this with the original Mavic SSC groupset.

What did the panelized decals look like? There appears to be spots where decals were removed on the seat tube. Do you know where I can find more info about this bike/company?

Did you read any of the threads in the link I posted? As you can see, one CR member, Norris Lockley, is pretty familiar with the brand. His email addresses are listed in the threads. I would try contacting him using the email address associated with his most recent post. He might be able to point you in the right direction.

The panelized decals had the France-Loire logo on a white background panel, flanked by the World Championship stripes.
