I'd hate to derail such a valuable thread but I will die on this hill: John Cougar Mellencamp is a poor man's Bruce Springsteen.

What? Are you mad because they may have money or is it the better bike or is it better clothing or are they just faster than you? Who the heck cares where what you want ride a nice bike and enjoy the heck out of life. If you want to sprint to the light go for it, if you want to ride slow and look at tulips, why the f not. Do whatever you want so long as it doesn't harm others.

Even where I live, winter is over. So why are we still getting threads like this? Shouldn't the doofus-types be out riding?

They make bikes under $1000? My custom skinsuit cost that much.

For the record, I'm against butt-chugging even if it doesn't harm others.

The tri semester cost is way higher than it has ever been. parents have to sell a lot more memes to afford sending there tax credits to such schooling.

Tour de France - type riders who are also Van Halen - type guitarists are fine. It's those Liege-Bastogne-Liege - type riders who are also Yngvie Malmsteen - type guitarists that really bother me a great deal. With their scalloped top tubes...

Last edited by growlerdinky; 05-06-21 at 05:02 PM. Reason: Yngvie Malmsteen plays Fender Stratocasters with scallopped frets. I just wanted to throw that in there.

Never understood this what this riders are all about, are they try to set world record in speed or something, i doubt that they ever will participating in any cycling sport events.

I know there's such thing as bicycle industry and marketing that popularize this, e.g. fishing industry for example and if you go to fishing store you see thousands of lures, hooks, and different types fancy rods when in reality do you really need to make it so complicated to catch a fish?

I know this is also some kind of popularized thing, but what is it all about?

Can anyone who is bilingual translate this into English for me?

Mario Andretti won the Indy 500 in 1969, and spent the next few decades trying for a second. Never happened.

Speaking of Mario, I'd do that two-man Indycar experience with an ancient Mario at the wheel in a heartbeat. What a way to go, huh?

Thought you'd like to know.

I can summarise-- guy who can barely write thinks he's clever as he complains about people who spend money to ride fast but not race. This confuses him for reasons.

Hmm....I’ve been a Lycra-clad roadie since before Lance won his first Tour. I have yet to meet another Lycra-clad roadie who was pretending to be - or thinking they were - someone else. Does everyone who plays basketball think they are Kobe or Lebron?

Being skinny immediately equals an eating disorder? Nope. It has more to do with being an endurance athlete and the calories burned in that activity. High-level cyclists tend to take their eating pretty seriously in order to properly fuel the machine for maximum performance.
