Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For some reason there's a huge Indian/Pakistani population in neighborhoods just north of us. Both baseball diamonds at this park I'm at are full of cricket players. Pretty awesome!!!

If you wanna drive I-75 in Atlanta, you'd better pick up the pace. They like it fast down there in the big city.

I'll have to go during peak traffic, when no one is driving fast.

In my experience, everyone starts out in Doug's neck of the woods doing 85mph, then at some random point before you get downtown everyone does 25. There is no speed in between however.

I could prolly do a little more telemedicine visits/day but the quality of care is compromised, so that’s a trade off.

I am currently doing about 80% office and 20% telemedicine these days as most patients prefer to come in if possible.

Was going to take the Engin out for 45 miles but found the front tubeless as flat as a carpenter’s board this morning. Just had them remounted less than 2 weeks ago and had taken one short ride on them. That’s just not right. Guess I’ll have to ride the tank and then pay a visit to the LBS.

Once you figure out that you can drink beer 5 days straight, and don't have to be sober enough to follow the game because usually nobody wins at the end of said 5 days, it's a no brainer to choose cricket over baseball as a spectator sport.

Telemedicine is fine for things like therapy, med management etc. Not so much for everything else in my opinion.

After going out for 100 yesterday I really thought I’d be wiped today. It’s remarkable how good I feel.

I'll be 70 in a little under two weeks so my birthday ride is now in play especially since I can't ride on my birthday due to commitments that day.

It's generally the patient's call these days?

DougRNS If your spontaneous activities require you to drive on I-75 this weekend, how fast will you go?

About to embark on an activity that will take me over a three-mile stretch of I-75. I'm feeling wild and crazy today. I may exceed 70 mph. #YOLO

A couple years ago, I had built up for my birthday 'Ride Your Age' ride, but then wildfires filled the air with smoke, making it unhealthy to ride AT ALL, and this persisted until it started raining, and it rained for a month. So last year, I just rode 63 miles when I felt I was ready, and considered it done. Two weeks ago, I rode 65 miles, so I figure I've got 64 under my belt, and I don't need to worry about it, because with a birthday at the border of Fire Season and Wet Season I can't guarantee I'll be able to ride at all.

Saw a 4 month old one of these today. Already 55 lbs. His trainer told me dad is 200 lbs.

Think the senior Accord can get to 70 before you have to exit?

My daughter picked up a rescue mutt (the black dog I posted a while back). He's now 9 months and 65 pounds. Anxious to see where he ends up. Part Great Pyronese.

My son's future roommate has two Great Danes that will reach close to 200 each. Curious to see how that works out as well.

My brother-in-law, a man I've known since age 6, is of Polish ancestry and as a consequence I've been to a number of Polish funerals and weddings. The weddings I've found to be particularly interesting. There is always a babushka like elder lady with very thick ankles and a face like the former Russian Premier Leonid Brezhnev, on the arm of a daughter or a grand daughter making their way across the floor. Getting the old lady seated is something of a chore much like docking the Queen Mary. The bands at these functions are interesting by being well versed in a variety of music reflecting the population of the area. That population at the wedding reception might be 1/3 Polish ancestry and 2/3 everything else which in the melting pot of New York State would be Dutch, English, Italian, Hispanic, German, Scandinavian and so on and so forth.

After having played, say some light rock, some folk songs, a cha cha or rhumba and a few other ethnic pieces, the band will play a polka and the Brezhnev lookalike will be dragged out onto the dance floor by a grand daughter or grandson and is soon sprightly whirling around with a happy smile and you can then see how pretty she one was.
