1" Threaded Factory/Production Forks ?
I need a new front fork.
I've got a 1970's Jim Merz custom 67cm touring frame and was just hit by a big black SUV that destroyed my front fork.
It Is Hard to replace this fork.... and I don't want to spend $1000 on a custom fork, So I am looking for a production fork if any exists?
1" Threaded steerer tube
282mm long Steerer Tube (super long)
Old fork handles 700c X 42mm tires and Aluminum fenders with a 20mm fender/tire clearance. I'd prefer to run even larger tires but that's asking too much.
I know I'm asking allot here... anyone know of anything like this?
What I do know; Surly and Dimension Forks don't work, Uni-Crown forks would mess with the bike geometry. The local guy that builds frames here in New Zealand wanted $1,400 nzd to make one but that's with some custom features I'd want on a built to order fork. I can't find anything so maybe you have some ideas

I don't understand why a uni-crown fork would "mess with the bike geometry." Length and rake are the only things that will do that.
Fallback plan to consider may be to find a fork you like and then have the steerer tube replaced with a super long one like you need. There are lots of cheap steel forks on the market but that steerer tube length is the most difficult feature to try to match.

Uni-Crowns take up allot of room and I thing this would affect the trail? But Look... I don't know enough to be confident in this
The Brakes are Mafac Raids but I won't be able to keep those
Jeff Lyons is not doing any custom work so he's out.
I'll need to give up the contactless dropouts
I located a NOS Surly 700c fork with an uncut 1" "Threadless" steerer tube.... not sure if cutting threads in that is advised, Surly tech rep said "NO"
I've asked Paul Evans (Evans frame building Orcas Island) if he can take a Surly fork and rebuild it from that but it's been two weeks without an answer

- skimming their stock bikes, it looks like all the stock forks will be 1 1/8 in.
Have you emailed Rivendell? They used to sell steel forks (carbon nomas! .... I think). Ya never know, they might have something dusty sitting on the shelf.

I have one or two Reynolds tall 1” threaded steer tubes instock. 1400 seems crazy high for a fork even by the nzd compared a custom fork here.

I have a Frame builder who has offered to build the Fork with a crown that will accommodate the 44c tires and fenders and am pursuing that at this time.

Yes, I contacted Rivendell altready and they don't even sell forks separately.
