Very nice, but it is not a P-15 (15 speed touring) if it is just a double crank with 10 speeds; it is either a P-10 (10 speed touring, most likely) or possibly a P-13 (10 speed "racing"; shorter chainstays and wheelbase than the P-10/P-15 IIRC). OR, someone took off the triple crank. Appears to have been repainted (nicely) by Waterford with the (nice) addition of water bottle cage nuts. Don't know if this would have come originally with the barcons vs. down-tube shifters. But I could be all wrong; need a Paramount expert like @Scooper to comment.

@oouellette: Would you expedite/ship this?

It's not a P-13. It has cable stop braze-ons on the top tube which were not on P-13's and the fork is for a touring model. AFAIK the only difference between the P-10 & P-15 was the triple crank and rear derailleur. Since the bike has been upgrader to Campy SR with a double crank I would consider it a P-10. It is very nice but if you are looking for an original bike this is not it. It has newer components and added H2O bottle bosses. Also the decals are not in the correct location.

My daughter was looking for a mountain bike so I ended up picking this up. I had seen the ad when it was first posted but didn't feel like driving 20 miles for it. I finally decided to get it. It is in excellent condition and the seller gave me a deal on it.

Could be a fun project.

I would give it to Chris Kvale for a nice new fork and a refinish in the color of your choice.

A warning sign though, when the fork is missing and a bottom bracket isn't removed.

Perhaps a chance for a good deal if it checks out.

That's the problem with these good deals.

It often snowballs, doesn't it.

My oldest son called me yesterday about a bike that was in the dumpster at his college.

He texted me a pic and it was an early 80's Masi that was beaten within an inch of its life.

Between the dented top tube and the goshawful rust from the dent I told him to leave it there.

You are likely correct though, we simply can't save them all.

Speaking of Kvales, I checked out the red one while I was in Minneapolis last week. Unfortunately, the bike appears to have had a crash. The fork looked slightly off and I could feel the telltale distortion on the underside of the downtube. If not for that, I would have had one of my own.

Definitely frame damage; the top tube has an obvious bend at the usual spot. Throwing away the fork was probably reasonable.

Sorry to hear that.

When I looked at it, I only had a couple of minutes with the bike.

You have discovered why that poor thing has sat on our CL for a year.

EDIT:

And for whatever it may be worth- this looks like it's a 1987, with a Tange 2 frame and Deore (MT-60) components. Damn good bike.

Here's a budget Ti-tri package. Perhaps re-arrange and rid of the tri parts???.

Lemond Victoire Ti Carbon Road Bike - $500 (Palos Park) < >

Lemond Victoire Ti Road Bike - $500 obo

This bike is about 13 yrs old. However, it is one of the fastest, lightest bikes out there. There are tons of reviews on line that rave about this bike. This was $3,700 when purchased new. Carbon forks and seat post. My wife is the original owner.

Comes with:
Bontrager Race Lites
Shimano Ultegra
Deda Aero Bars
Shimano Flight Deck
extra inner tube w/stem
tool pouch.

The right price and I'll throw in the Speedplay pedals.
