I'm just trying to find out the age of my bike and some history behind it, but these thread are so long and the reference links don't seem to have my information in them . I have a PUCH 140 serial number M6-F3540

And all because of a bicycle. See, they're pretty important. Not knowing enough about them can cause a complete fogginess of the mental faculties, possibly leading to a psychiatric disturbance.

IIRC the 140 is from the Mid 80s. Here’s a link to the 1986 Puch catalog.

As the catalogue suggests, an entry level bike, likely made in the far east. It's really not a bike to put time, money and effort into restoring unless it has some deep personal meaning to you.
Not that it won't ride well, it just might but at 29 lbs out of the box, it's no lightweight.
