The decals have not been easily sourced, and I finally found something pretty close on e-bay, from Yugoslavia. It will take a month to get them.
So that's one possible explanation. The paint and decal schemes changed a lot on Rossin bikes over the years, and there was even some kerfuffle about the "R" used in his trademark.
This one is pretty early in the production history, so I've been enjoying the process off gradually examining the construction details as the stripping and repainting proceeds.

Absolutely that could be the case. The paint is so well done and subtle in the tiny bit of green, that it could've had a magic marker R.
Roselle Rossin, Victoria Van Tuyl and Bella Basso are my forever home bikes for sure. Cassani Losa will be when painted, restored and outfitted!

Heavily biased for the Colnago because I've had one since undergrad that recently had a broken seat tube.

I stripped and painted one of those a few years back for my daughter. I was shocked by how bad the brazing was on it. Yours certainly isn't as bad as mine was but for a high end Italian frame it was a joke. Rather than keeping it I sold it and found a Flying Scot for her. Now that was a beautiful frameset.
Many of these marques were quite capable of putting out both well and badly constructed frames. I've worked on some Raleigh's, where you knew it must have come off the line near quitting time on Friday.

although I've got a nice shiny International that seems to be okay too.
For those unfamiliar with it, the SBDU (Specialist Bicycle Developments Unit) was a small shop within Raleigh that just did the very top end stuff, so the quality is really quite impressive for a major manufacturer. The Team bike even had a little SBDU sticker on the chainstay, which is a bit odd.

Got my SSI stuff submitted, come 31 October 2021 I am out of there. At least that is my current story, just re-certified with USACE/NAVFAC as a quality engineer.

In addition to the GC above, I’ve been lucky to find most of my “most desired” bikes. Here they are. Would still like to find a nice Paramount.
‘94 De Rosa Primato w/ full Campy Record
Not an original Stumpjumper but one of 250 from a limited edition reissue of the original for the 25th anniversary of the Stumpy in 2006.
Probably not on most “most desired” lists but I was finally able to find a decent AD Vent Noir after passing up the chance to buy one in 1982. Set up for Cino and rides as nice as anything else I have. First generation Dura Ace except for Duopar RD.

Hmmm, 5 is a tough number. Lots of builders I like left off the table. Would definitely want Jim Merz on there, but decided to go with the last 3 because they're all still building.

5. Richard Sachs
Don't have a Bayis or Johnson, but do have a Baylis-painted DiNucci:
My '81 Weigle Sportif isn't as fancy as a Special, but it can be built as a tourer and has gerous clearances for my aging body. The triple crank setup has a Merz Triple-izer, so he is represented:
I had an '85 Weigle Special that was prettier, but clearances were tight:
Had a Sachs a while back, stupidly sold it:

I think I'm fortunate in that I was able to find 3 of the exact bikes I looked for.

I looked for "A" Miyata 1000 and came out with a 1990 Miyata 1000LT- and I don't think I could have asked for a better year- but I do like the Teal 91s.

I always think I'd like something like a Herse or Singer- but truth be told- I'd want to build it up all modern-y instead of letting it be it's own awesome self- so I could never have a legit antique classic.
Up until a few years ago, I really wanted a Rivendell A. Homer Hilsen- with cantis. I guess I'd take one if it popped up, I just don't feel like chasing after it anymore.
If I were to have a custom made- Ellis would be my first choice. Of course, I totally forgot about Weigle until seeing Paul's beauties. Or a chrome plated, fillet brazed Ebisu. Or a Toei... Maybe someday if the money drops into my lap...
