Original or fake Dahon?

Hey guys, can you please help me how to recognize fake and original Dahon bikes?
I want to buy one but I'm not 100% sure what I'm buying.

Here's Dahon's info on the subject:

https://eu.dahon.com/how-old-is-my-d...20authenticity.

If it's a recent bike it will have a holographic sticker and an authentication number.

I don't have a current Dahon model to refer to and there is no date attached to the information in the link below, but it may help you get started on the path to verify the authenticity of any bike you might find.

I think that there is another concern, of Dahons made for markets that tolerate lower quality being privately imported into markets with higher expectations. The strategy presumably should be of someone knowledgeable in bikes looking at manufacturing and component quality. We have a couple of Dahons marketed in China, bought though consciously, so I know what I am talking about.

Sure, I'll try my best. In our case we needed 2 folders quickly and cheaply, with the long-term durability not being a concern due to only incidental use expected early on. Thereafter, we were upgrading the components as the original were breaking down, and this started already a couple of months into the use, but for us the cost was already spread out.

What do you think, are they worth the price? Also how aged they are, approximately?

I would buy the one that when I rode it felt the best to me. You not me need to do the riding part. Roger

There is an advantage in them being used, as a Dahon made specifically for a market with low incomes would be not be in a shape to be resold after a short while. From these I would likely go for the first one, as it has a dynohub, dynamo lights, Marathon tires and Sram shifter. It looks like the owner was caring for that bike and upgrading components. Some concern is in the rust, but at this stage it still looks superficial. With folding bikes of concern are hinges, whether they are in still good shape. I would fold and unfold the bike, ride it around, looking for any feeling of insecurity around the hinges. Look inside the frame whether the rust is just slight on the surface or are there more serious concerns. Pricewise around 200 euro for used steel folding bikes is about what you should pay - maybe you could push lower for the other ones. As to the rust,I would spray the rusted areas with ACF-50 or another similar motorcycle treatment.
