I have an odd one. Does anyone know it? It is made by Doppelgänger here in Japan. It's a great folder, slightly longer wheel base makes it an incredible easy ride and the 451 wheels are great. I have upgrades forthcoming for my drive train, but overall the bike is fairly light and perfect for our tiny apartment.

Here are three Romets that I have seen around here in Lublin, Poland.

This one is a Flaming, and it has good paintwork and chrome for a bike that probably dates back to the 1980s.



This is a Sokol-lux, a kids bike that has survived from the 1970s very well, although the rack looks like it came off a bigger bike. This is the only Sokol that I have ever seen.



This is one of the most popular Romets, the Jubilat, although I have never seen another one with a bolted-on pair of seat stays and that crank, which looks like it is off a more expensive model.



This is another bike from the 1980s, possibly a little later.

I bought a chainless BEIXO Electra foldable bike back in 2014 and I am still using it. I had zero problems with the transmission and yes, you avoid the risk of staining yourself or others with the chain grease. The only issue is that weighting 22kgs it is a bit difficult to carry around when folded, but it fit perfectly in a small car trunk or, as in my case, in a small camping car.

That's a Dahon Speed TR ("touring"). $30? Deal of the century, for any Speed, but especially that one, they went for about $1200 I think back in the day. 4130 chrome moly steel frame. Originally came with rear rack tall enough for full size panniers, and front rack. Usually had a steel fixed front stem, yours has aluminum telescoping stem. Usually came with a dynamo front hub and lights. Due to front thingy on the head tube for a carrier bracket, I think that one is a later model, so perhaps different features than previous. That one has a 3x7 or 3x8 SRAM internal gear hub. If you plan on riding it, you should get the rear hub lubed, take care of it, as SRAM no longer makes the hub. Hopefully hasn't been ridden in rain much. I don't know if you can just drip gear lube into the right side linkage hole. I've seen a couple TRs in my area on craigslist going cheap, looked neglected. Good score. Bonus points: Has seatpost tire pump, just unscrew the bottom black cap.

Shaft drive! And appears to have multispeeds in the hub. Note the very relaxed seatpost angle, to better increase the effective top tube length for those tall Dutch riders. I looked up the brand, not cheap! I think they switched to belt drive now instead of shaft, just as clean and should be lighter. Also, typical right-angle gearsets cost you about 5% energy efficiency, at least for hypoid gears for smoothness. Rare bird.

I have a Bickerton jUnction 1607.
thought I have a british bike, but Google told me Bickerton is made by Tern, and Tern is a part of Dahon 😁 Anyway, nice bike. I will post the pictures soon.

Hello again K! Tern is a distinct company, started by the wife and son of the Dahon founder. Lawsuits galore, but they have settled things. For a while, they made similar products, but then a few years ago, Tern jumped ahead with their GSD electric cargo bikes, high quality, I think also tested to a stringent Euro spec for cargo bikes. Base model was like $6,000 USD, and went up to about $10,000 for one with a Rohloff 14 rear hub. I'm sure big profits there. A good number are present in my city, for apartment dwellers in areas with little parking, using in place of a car. Last year on the road, I helped fix a road bike, his wife was riding an electric similar to the GSD at a shockingly low price of between $1500-2000 if I recall.
