What it seems like. Seems like a lot, but all the research I was able to find suggested 90g (60g glucose/maltodextrin + 30g fructose) is just about the most the body can handle. I'm going to try it out in training. Went and bought a bag of maltodextrin and gatorade will be my fructose + electrolytes.

What I don't get is how froome stands upright. Guy is skin and bones. I've never seen a cyclist without even leg muscles. How does he make any power?

Honestly I feel like everyone got a little slower around 2010. It made the racing a little less exciting, but seems cleaner. At least a little.

Gaviria is just straight up incredible. His lead out is best in the game and he just delivers. I wasn't around during the htc days when cav was winning everything, but from the video I've seen, this seems reminiscent of that.

Sagan has a really good sprint but not the overpowering sprint of some very best sprinters. He mostly wins by being smart and he is an incredible bike handler. If he is doping I would guess that it would be focalin.

Today was interesting. Not going to throw blame on anyone, but with a corner at 2k to go (as an amateur racer) that means good lord am I going to be at the front. I think it was a sprint Gaviria could have won again, but was too far back with 2k to go when people decided to fall over.
Best thing about the TTT stage is I can just read the recap tomorrow and it's like I missed nothing at all. I love the TTT (and ITT) as events, but they are a drag to watch.

This is definitely the sprinters generation. Sagan, Cavendish, Kittel, Gaviria, Greipel, and a few others make it probably the deepest sprinters field I can ever remember. Opposite of the GC field, which seems very weak. Everyone not named Froome seems to have a glaring flaw.
Gaviria is definitely good and has the best train, but he didn't use it like Cav did who would just obliterate the field. On the plus side, he looks like a guy who could win one day classics as well.
Going into that, I knew people were going to go down, it was just too tight.

Yeah I'm loving all the sprint action!
Was really happy to see Grunewegen(?) beat Gaviria yesterday at the end of that long stage. Gaviria is fine but it's boring when the same guy wins everything.
Kristoff & Cavendish were actually up there in the sprint yesterday, that was cool. They said Kittel got DFL (118th) out of the sprinting group yesterday, ouch.. must've had a bad baguette or something.
And how about Lawson Craddock suffering on the back of every single stage with all his injuries and still surviving? I thought for sure he was gonna DNF on stage 2 but he's still humming along, for better or worse. I love that you can technically heal while still racing.
As for GC I hope Nibali & Porte give Froome a run for his money.

poor Richie Porte.. out with a broken collarbone - like 10km in to the stage!
they weren’t even on the cobbles yet.
tdf stage 9’s are apparently not kind to Richie.

It was really cool to see how important that win was to him.
I enjoyed the stage...but I think it impacted the overall race a bit too much. The cobbles are a gimmick, and to steal a gaming phrase, they introduce too much rng. Every stage has some randomness and luck, but the cobbles intensify it and has essentially snuffed out at least one contender.

I enjoyed stage 9. Riding cobbles are part of racing in Europe. Mountains give men built like jockeys an advantage so why not give bigger more powerful riders an advantage via cobble stones. And there is skill in riding over the cobbles. And riding the cobbles made for a more exciting race and better ratings.
Are the best seasons for Cav behind him?

I found it refreshing to see something other than 1) sprinters team pulls it all together and ramps it up the last 5k or 2) climbers team rides people off the back so the team leader can ramp it up the last 5K. I think what the cobble introduced was situations that big teams could not control. So the whole stage mattered rather than 170Km of negative racing and 10km of action.

^+1 @Voodoo76, except I thought that the big teams did control the race (sky, quick step, movistar) while others like ag2r and BMC had to react to a set if different circumstances on the road than a normal flat road stage.
so far, this TdF edition has been worthy of fast forwarding to the last 3k, not much more. yesterday was the first stage I found myself watching.

I think the cobbles are a gimmick, but a great one. Like @MDcatV said, it's something different than the usual formula.
And it's not like Froome totally falls apart out there, most of the climber guys generally survive stages like that. Did the time gaps change that much (besides Van Avermat gaining some time, which he'll lose eventually anyway).

Thanks for the info.. Guess I'll be looking for a better fructose source.
