Having Panto done is popular too, at least on FB. Even on newer groups after removing black anno. Just need a Drillium revival and bam vintage bikes will be highly valued again. Maybe show up in a rap video or on the Kardashians.

I'm afraid my budget doesn't stretch beyond a gold-plated shifter clamp bolt. And maybe the nut too, if they will accept my offer. If I can get the seller to ship it to Holland, I'll build a bike around it.

You know all this really started in the 1976 model year of the Cadillac Seville.
Gold plated emblems, faux wire wheel wheelcovers, two tone paint and the finishing touch of the spare tire look add on to the trunk lid.
Oh, forgot, the Rolls Royce radiator frame hood add on... and the white and gold stripe whitewall tires... Styling.
So Bev. Hills. for a time.

Somebody in the SF Bay Area, help me with my memory...what was the shop/person that had Campy small parts gold plated, then sold them for a high profit? Small bolts and adjusters made sense, lubricity and never worry about rusting...it was in Novato, then later moved to Santa Rosa, methinks. @verktyg or @juvela, perhaps would know?

If you own something as unfunctional as a campy rally you may as well at least make it gold.

The whole concept of Campagnolo as bling is absolute bull****.

So I should be able to gold my Huret front derailleurs! Ditto my Shimano 600/6207 rear mechs, especially the long cage one. I'd better throw in the sidepull brakes, too.

IMO there's nothing wrong with 2-tone paint.

Scary,
Reminds me of a time taking a cab back to my hotel in Tokyo very late, there was a parade of American Iron... lowriders! polished to the hilt, hydraulics, Chrome... where they found parking for those 220" long cars who knows as to have a car in Tokyo means you have a place to park it.

Hello Gug,

Have only the faintest memory of this.

Recall folks offering service as being located in the north ot the shire of Marin or in the south of the shire of Sonoma.

Cannot remember a name for the service.

IIRC they may have also offered pantographing to order.

Oh man "Escape From New York" head man "The Duke" favorite quote:

The Duke: Snake Plissken... I've heard of you.
