Triumph Tiger firing on two cylinders at tickover but seems ok at speed
Weird weird weird.
My 1994 Triumph Tiger sounds like it is only running on two cylinders at tick over, but when riding it seems not to be down on power at higher revs.
Now I am either kidding myself, and my triple has turned into a twin - or third cylinder is kicking in at higher revs?
right hand downpipe does not even get warm at tickover whilst other two get hot quickly.(did the water spray test)
I took off the HT lead while it was ticking over and sure enough - no discernable difference
I put a spare plug onto the removed HT lead and spark is very strong...
Sooooo then - clues?
Could this be a carb problem?
Any ideas what I can do next?

During installation, a dialog appears warning that email acceleration and FTP acceleration are disabled because another Layered Service Provider (LSP) was detected.
This dialog is a warning stating that email acceleration and FTP acceleration will not be installed on this computer due to a software conflict.
However, the Web acceleration will still work properly. If you would like to have email acceleration and FTP acceleration, the other LSPs must be removed followed by a re-installation of SlipStream SP.
Please contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for proper instruction regarding this matter.

Low speed juet plugged, or partially plugged. Try a half can of Seafoam, or a bottle of Chevron Techron Concentrate in the tank.
If not completely plugged, that should clear it. If not, excise the clog, while rebuilding the carbs.
Just remember to make sure it gets a lot of time idling while that stuff is in there.

It's the carb idle circuit on that dead cylinder. Try a gasoline applied carb cleaner. If that doesn't solve the problem, the carb will need to be overhauled. Hope this helps.
Triumph Tigers are nice bikes but this forum is for bicycles. Cheers!

o - I think that was supposed to be a "wtf" error message to match the "wtf" OP. Of course, given all the helpful responses to the OP, I'm sure this forum will now start scoring high in motorcycle-problem Google searches.

How refreshing to have a thread that is not about endless saddle experiments, busted bottom brackets, or knee pain...

Put some pedals on it and you'll have no carb troubles.

And I'm shocked that there's so many closet motorcyclists on this bicycle forum....

I'm with 'San Rensho' on this. I suspect the idle circuit too, for whichever carb feeds that cylinder.
Take the plug out of the cyclinder and squirt a little gas in it and fire it up. If all three cylinders run at start up, then quickly breaks down to two cylinders then it would be idle circuit carb problem for that cyclinder.
Hope that helps

A '04 Triumph has carbs? How barbaric. Might also want to check the butterfly-angle at idle and synchronization of the carbs.
