Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Been wearing leather shoes for a good part of my life (hell, I went to a private school until I finished high school that required dressy-ish shoes , mostly made out of Black leather). Black leather shoes will cook your feet. Dont get me wrong here. I'm not hating and actually congratulating you for the pick up but just giving you a heads up.

Anyhow, for the CANADIANS here:

These 2 books go for $30.65 right now using Free shipping, member pricing and coupon code MAY2012 on Indigo.ca

Most were too large for my head and the twit kept saying that the rear fitting system just needed adjusting. I wanted to ask him if he would be insulted if he were looking for shoes and I brought him shoes two sizes too large and told him to just tie them tighter. If that were the case, all helmets would be "one size fits all". Needless to say, I refuse to buy a helmet from that store.
I had no problem with adjusting the rear fitting systems to get any medium helmet to fit from front to rear, the problem was there was too much space on the sides which allowed the helmet to move from side to side. You do have find a general helmet size like small, medium, or large, then once you have a particular size on then you do have adjust the rear fitting system to get the helmet to adjust from front to rear, once that's done then the sides becomes the next issue.

Thanks again, I was curious where you got the info. I started riding in the cleats and toe clips days when only black leather shoes were generally available. I often rode all day with no overheated feet problems in hot and humid New Orleans.

I just rode these for 2.5 hours yesterday and my feet were no hotter than the more modern cycling shoes they replaced. I guess it's a little different than your high school dress shoe experience.

I read the first book, not the second one. A lot of it is redundant, and a lot of it seems geared toward racers. Anyway, I learned quite a bit from it, and I'm glad I read it. It did broaden my knowledge of cycling and training. Basically the the point of the book is to get yourself to be your own coach.

It's definitely geared towards racing. It's an excellent book, I'm reading through mine for the second time now.

Visited the local bike shop for some new tires after a panic stop to avoid a car put a 3 inch slit in the rear tire (locked it up a little coming downhill). Walked out with Michelin Pro4 (Race) tires in red. These better not suck for the money they cost!

Their great tires for racing, very grippy in both dry and wet conditions; I assume that's why you bought them? and not for recreational or training rides? Because they will wear fast and be subject to flats and tire damage. If the bike shop knew you weren't exclusively racing on them they should have sold you the Pro4 Endurance tire instead of the Race.

I looked at the little graph on both boxes, out of 5 boxes the puncture resistance is a 5/5 on the endurance and 4/5 on the races...not a huge deal. We'll see how they hold up. One of the shop guys has been riding his Pro4 Races for 2 months now and not a sign of wear and 0 flats, no racing either.

Trying to cut down from 160 to 140lbs by the end of summer. It'll be a ***** to maintain until next season but I'm not new to cutting weight and maintaining (been enjoying for the past 2-3 years).

I haven't opened the book yet but I hope the recipes are simple enough.

Blackburn Mag Tech 6 trainer. It's monsoon season in FL, and it's on with a vengeance, as if to make up for years of relative drought. I don't mind riding in rain, but riding in thunderstorms dumping an inch or two an hour is a bit much.

I had a trainer before (lost it in a move?!) but no instrumentation, didn't didn't know where my HR or cadence was, and was too lazy to measure with a watch. I have an Edge 350 with all the goodies, so now I know.

This is gonna lead me into trainerroad, I just know it.. I'm already ordering the garmin ant+ stick to go with my edge.

Please post the end result somewhere. I really like the blue/orange color on that bike. I bet the orange tape goes well with the bike.
