Hub shells

I have a shoe box full of hub shells and a small assortment of axles, which may or may not be related. Can you think of any reason not to throw them out? I am in serious downsizing mode, but don't want to do anything rash.

Condition is almost everything. Cones are the most valuable part, if they are in good shape. Similarly hub shells are likely useless if the races are bad.

I always offer to give stuff away before pitching it.

I have a friend (cyclist but also industrial designer) who discovered a non-cycling (but recycling) use for hub shells and I gave him a few of mine that were beyond saving. I could ask him if he wants some more...EDIT I forgot you are in Mexico, shipping may be the deal-killer!

Shipping is a deal killer, and giving them away is too. As in probably all developing countries, we use the old if we have to, and the newest of the new if we are able. Right now I'm having trouble finding a 700C /27" innertube with a Schrader valve. There are 27.5, and 26, and 29(fat), but everything else is presta. Even amazon.com.mx struck out.For reasonable quality at a reasonable price anyway.

If it only takes up the amount of space of a shoebox , then why worry. Otherwise, just give it away. Leave it on the doorstep of your local bike charity. Be good. Have fun.

Because there are a dozen such shoeboxes-- calipers, derailleurs, bbs and headsets, spokes, skewers, shifters and brake levers. You get the picture. The hub shells happen to be the least useful of the lot. So I started there.
And there is no such thing as a bike charity

I guess you could have it for shipping cost, if you're serious. It ships from Mexico.
