Is there a trick to opening these Sachs levers?

Is there a trick to opening these Sachs levers?

I've put as much force on them as I feel comfortable with and neither side will move. Tried pulling outward in case that was it, but short of prying on it with a screwdriver, they won't budge.
Just wondering if there is a simple trick I'm missing or if this is a case where brute force and ignorance will prevail.

It looks to me like a Campy-style removal. Double check that there isn't a set screw on the underside of the body. After that, hit it with the largest pin you can. It'll be much easier if you remove the whole lever from the bike. Some pivot pins are particularly hard to get out. Big force and big brain are required.

I think you misunderstood the question. I just need to figure out how to flip the switch to the open position for wheel removal.

Maybe try taking the tension off the cable by compressing the brake caliper with your hand.

Thinking of the cam or some other mechanism that that little lever must be moving, I'd be reluctant to use too much force if you want to preserve the levers. These are plastic, right? I'm concerned that the cable end is stuck where it's seated, and maybe needs to be coaxed out and then greased. You may want to start by disconnecting the cable at the brake caliper and opening the brake lever fully for better access and visibility.

I don't know, but have you tried pushing the pivot of the lever down and then trying to turn it in the direction indicated? If it relies on cable tension to keep it in the closed position, it may have a key-hole slot that requires that movement.
