New RSL Wheels from Bontrager

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New RSL Wheels from Bontrager

I tried to order a set of XXX 4 wheels from my LBS earlier in the week but there was no ETA. He speculated it was because the wheels were being replaced. Two days later he calls and says there is a new RSL 51 ( and some other stuff) coming. Trek has the RSL 51 as a configurable option for their Project One bikes, though it doesn't show up on the regular spec sheet.

Dealer said they will be available in June at the same price as the current XXX line. 23mm rim width for the RSL 51.

It's interesting that the current rsl37 has a 21mm internal width, but all the upcoming, deeper section, rsl wheels are 23mm. I wonder what was the logic behind that decision.

My guess? There is also an RSL3V with a 25 mm rim width. Having a 23 splits the difference so they can make one wheel and call it a day.
