Be careful this time of year

This is the time of the year to be careful of the seasonal hazard-------------leaves. Wet leaves will put you on the ground in an instant, just like sand or gravel in a corner.

Not to mention all the lousy drivers who have been forced on the road because of COVID...

Also the crepuscular cretins - the motorists that refuse to turn on their lights during low light mornings and evenings.

One of my only two semi-remarkable crashes was in wet leaves. 7 years back Would gutter run around speed bumps and bunny hop at speed. Slid and caught lip on the hop. Panic gripped (had just started riding) and completed a half endo track stand with my bike and arse poised in a perfect 10, 90-degrees to expected movement. Two seconds later we fall to the side. Heavy jacket saved damage but took 6 months for nerve to normalize.

Yeah, I don't do that no more....

I'll add that the leaves are a special kind of slick if they've been there since a rain for a couple of days. They get slime between layers, slicker than ice.

In Oregon wet leaf season is about now until they all decay after Christmas sometime.
