Fork Question

On a recent FB post I saw a fellow who had just made a fork. He added 2 holes on one blade reinforced with a SS washer. This is for a dyno wire.
My question is this something I could safely add to an already built fork?

I just did that on a fork that I built. Built the fork a couple of years ago and just added the wiring ports with stainless washers.
