Both bikes are back to having touring bars and I got vintage 150mm Control Tech stems for both bikes. One is 0 degrees and the other about 10 degrees.

Also got a normal (short) quill stem adapter with Profile Design brand to use with the Schwinn.

The combination of the 10 degree angled CT stem and an adapter that can drop the stem all the way down to the headset lets me get the touring bars low enough on the Schwinn to get a decent riding position without having to flip them over. I even have about an inch to work with below where I have it set at the moment.

With winter starting to have its effect, the trails are pretty soft, so I’m likely to get a couple of Ritchey Speedmax tires in the wired 700x32 variety, which I hope will go on the old Ambrosio rims more easily than the folding one does.

Also likely to get an SKS S-Blade to keep mud spray off my back side.

Tires

I'm literally waiting tonight for my panaracer 26X 1.25 tires for my Magna fixie. I'm thinking maybe tomorrow.

I got another XT M737 rear derailleur those things are bomb proof and I think look pretty decent and will work for 9 speeds as well. I have resisted the temptation to buy one every time I see one but when Justyne at Bike Recyclery put one up on NYE I said screw it let's get it I could do with having an extra one on hand.

Ciocc frame with parts for singlespeed build

I’ve been slowly amassing parts for a Ciocc frame that I got in November off of Ebay. The seller said it was made by Giovanni Pelizzoli in 1979 and tehn refurbished by him in 2020. Not sure if that’s on the up and up, but the logos are stenciled on and it came with a flyer signed by Pelizzoli.

When I received the frame, it just felt like it should be built as a mean, lean singlespeed for NYC streets. I already have a 1977 Colnago with period correct Campy groupset, but wanted this to be a bit different. I did go with a lot of Record Pista parts (crankset, hubs, headset, and BB), but I went modern on a few things (Nitto bars, Cinelli seatpost, and MKS pedals). I got the Modolo super Prestige brakes first, b/c I thought they would just look perfect with this frame.

Pretty jazzed to be this close to being able to build it up. I’ve purchased way too much in tools for the build, but I want to do everything myself (might have LBS build the wheels).

It was time for some new cycling shoes after 10 years of hard use. I've gone to the dark side: some Lake shoes with SPDs, and new pedals for all 3 bikes. I swore I never would.

I posted my Ciocc build parts in January. Just got some tires to put on the Ambrosio Nemesis tubular rims (with Campy Record Pista hubs and White Industries freewheel).

Was my first time using tubular tape and it was shockingly easy. I’ve got brakes, stem/handlebars, and seatpost mounted as well.

Starting to look like a bike and I’m really digging the look so far.

Need to dial in the brake lever placement before I put the white tape on.

I love cooking, I do also like bikes and jazz. Not so much a gardener but not opposed just not my cup of tea. I think cooking and bikes go quite well together.

I had this bell until I was bullied by a motorist and went over my handlebars, crushing my poor skull bell. I might have to purchase another now that my bike it getting a little more of a commuter setup.

Initially I was just looking at it to see if it worked and then I held it in my hand and said yeah I am gonna buy it. Now just need to have a firstborn and sell my firstborn and pay this thing off LOLOLOLOL

A Japanese domestic Viva Kizuki bell. Great for urban riding with unpredictable pedestrians. It’s essentially a bear bell, tinkling all the time.
