1974 Batavus Tour de l'Europe
Bought this when I was in high school - saved up from cutting lawns all summer. Mostly original or replaced in kind except for the chain ring (originally Sugino, now Shimano 105). Some rust on the top tube back side. I still ride it once in a while when I want that vintage steel is real experience. What’s it worth?

I will defer to others on pricing this one. Really like the paint and the great gold leaf pin striping just really nice combination. Where are you located this doesn't look like a US sold model bike to me?

Thanks! I bought the bike new in the US - near Pittsburgh. I currently live in North Carolina.

WOW! With the exception of the chainset, this is an EXACT clone of my c.1975 Batavus Tour de l'Europe that I rode all over southwestern Virginia. Mine was purchased in either August or September, 1975, from a bike shop in Roanoke, VA for around, oh, $169.95? It's been a while. That dark brown color is one of two colors I have seen for this model, they also came in a more golden finish. I rode my first century on my Batavus, and the next summer went on a 3-day cycle camping tour on the Blue Ridge Parkway with three friends. I was not yet 15. I can only imagine the pearl-clutching if 14 and 15-year-olds set off on a trip like that by themselves today.
Cash market value? Even though it is clean, and has that wonderful Batavus paint (one of their best features!), it is in the end still a generic gas-pipe bike boom-era 10 speed. Its sentimental value to you is probably its greatest value, and you would probably have to wait a while to find someone who desperately wanted to relive his youth with it. As I look closer, your bike even appears to have the original steel rims - I swapped mine out for Weinmann alloys after a misunderstanding with a large dog. For that matter, I also swapped out the original Simplex Prestige rear derailleur when it failed and replaced it with a first generation Shimano 600.
If you were going to sell it, I would consider locating a vintage Sugino Maxy crankset, which was the stock unit on this model. If you were looking for insurance value? I dunno, because of condition I would say maybe $200-300? I see similar bikes priced up to $400, but I don't think they sell for that.

I sold a similar Batavus a couple years ago. Even after a full overhaul and upgrading the steel rim wheelset, it was still rather a heavy clunker. The buyer loved the head badge so much he gave me $200 for it. I don't think it was worth that, but it was kind of a cool looking bike.

Thats a sweet ride. Around here in the south bay area/San Jose people would ask 7-800 for it all day long. Would they get that? maybe not but since its so clean and in great shape they might get close.

This is really a good looking bike! I'm not an expert, but in Montreal, Qc. this bike could be sold for around 300 and more. It has all the vintage elements someone could look for.

$150 would be a fair price

I mostly agree with the others on this thread. Given inflation, and the value of bikes in the marketplace, in general, I think you'd get $200-250 easy for this.

Hi tensile steel plus steel rims, $150ish FMV. It has a coolness factor that may drive the price up. You've had this bike since high school. I'd get some alloy wheels and ride it from time to time.
