Vintage Bianchi - Shimano 600 groupset
Trying to figure out what model Bianchi this is and if it fits (awaiting size measurement from the seller). Can any Bianchi experts chime in on what this model/year is? I think it might be almost worth the asking price ($250) just in the groupset alone

Nice bike and a cool color . I love the brown and gold myself,
Bike's worth $250 if you want to put a little bit of sweat into cleaning it up (Wd-40 and steel wool on the forks etc. )

Can I suggest you skip the steel wool and use aluminum foil? Much softer on the remaining chrome

I’m having trouble finding a corresponding model in the Bianchi USA catalogs. If it weren’t for the 600 HS I’d say it was a parts bin build. The chrome fork might suggest a Canadian model it might also indicate a crash of some type

gulencocuk ,
Chrome is a very hard surface......best bet might be to use a buffer with the proper grit/polish (not sure what it would be) and try to get a bit of shine back......call some chrome folks in your area to see what they use.
Next time tell your "friend" to only use foil when removing rust.
BTW, some chrome has be clear coated from the factory that sometimes dulls...could that be what your "friend" has, if so strip the clear with paint remover and use a chrome polish to finish.
Best, Ben

Thank you, Ben! I think it has clearcoat and it is what has become dull. I will see if my friend can follow your advice
Edit: I removed all the clearcoat and applied chrome polish several times. now it looks like day 1 again. Thanks for the advice xiaoman1 . Now I will need to read a bit more to see what long term effects I should expect and try to mitigate

In a way it did its job to protect the finish, so removing it and using a good wax every so often will continue to protect the chrome for years to come.
Glad to have been able to help,
Ben
