Corsa Superlites or Corsa SLR? using 28mm tires
After a few years of running 1900gram Weinmann wheels for a few years, I'm looking to replace these wheels with something a bit lighter and faster.
I almost narrowed it down to just two models, mainly because I'm cheap. The Corsa Lites and Corsa SLRs are almost my final two choices now. Buying from Nashbar.
The SLR is 22mm deep and 22mm wide.
The Superlites are 27mm deep, and 18mm wide.
The 20 grams difference in weight wouldn't even be noticeable. Same spokes, same hubs.
I'm 180lbs right now, and I live in Michigan, with chopped up roads, cracks, frost heaves, and chipseal. Riding a 1985 steel Peugeot PGN10 because the roads mixed with my aluminum Nishiki is too harsh of a ride. Hence, why I want to keep using my 28mm conti GP 4Ks, simply because of the cushioning factor.
Would the 18mm width of the Superlites even work with my 28mm tires? I know the 22mm wides of the SLR would be no problem, but the reviews aren't as good for the SLR. And would the extra height of 5mm of the SL really make much of an aero difference?

Well, got curious, went out to the shed and measured the external width of my Weinmanns. 19.2 or something. I'm thinking I should be good with the superlite's 18mm external width. But, I'd love to hear about someone else's experience with these wheels and larger tires.
Also, there is a graph at this link what also answers my questions

I would go with the wider ones. Should make the ride more comfortable. I have the SLX disc and really like them. I too am looking at the SLR wheels for my wife's bike. She has the Bontrager AT20 OEM wheels and would like to upgrade her wheels.
Let us know which ones you get and how they feel once get a few rides on them.
Good luck.

I went out to my shed, found two wheels that I am not using and measured the external vs internal widths. One is amavic rim that came with my Peugeot, 19mm external, 13 internal. The other an an Alex (I think) recumbent 26" wheel. 25 External, 19 internal.
So, both rims give me a difference of 6mm.
So, I went to Velocity's website to see their graphs. The A23 is 23mm external, 18 internal. A difference of 5.
So knowing these three facts, I'm going to assume the 18mm Vuelta Superlites are around 12-13mm. And putting this against Mavic's graph would probably mean my 28mm tires are far too large.
Probably means I should just purchase the SLR wheelset. With 22mm external, I'm thinking either 16-17mm internal, which should be fine for my 28mm tire.
