Two years ago when I was backpacking in that area, I had trouble with my MSR pump filter, thus was asking all the other campers what they were using. Most were using Sawyer filter, several were using Evernew bladders, and several mentioned Smartwater brand bottles.

When I bought the Sawyer, my research identified lots of reports of Sawyer bladders that did not hold up.

I have some titanium cookware made by Evernew, while there of course is no comparison between plastic bladders and titanium cookware, I can say that I am happy with the products that I have used from Evernew and I suspect that quality control is similar across product lines. Thus bought a pair of 2 liter bladders, one is labeled for pre-filtered water.

I hit the hardware store for various plastic hose for a gravity setup.

Some Sawyer users were saying I should use the Smartwater bottle instead of the syringe for backflushing, but for my first trip with that filter, I am bringing the syringe as suggested by the manufacturer.

Thanks for the positive comment.
