I think the grey tires and cool wheels work for sure, when comparing these to the previous regular black tires standard wheels I think they add a bling that works and look very sharp

Will you have some more purple anodized parts to add? The headset turned out great but thinking a bit more purple ano is a must, thoughts?

Oh, just noticed the saddle change, must say I'm more partial to the standard Avocet you have in the last picture compared to the initial saddle, is the cover mint condition all way round?

Thanks for the input. I have a purple Ringle water bottle cage in transit. I think I will do Acor? Skewer set of flea bay in purple as well . That’ll be it me thinks I don’t want to much of a good thing ya know. Cantilever brake
s I’m really leaning towards LX BR-M560 to match the crank and possibly the hubs on the Mavic wheel set. I really love these wheels but they are inexpensive Chinese built and don’t match the period of this frame. But damn I like the look of this right now🤩 as for the seat it came off a KHS summit I scooped at recycling depot along with the cranes on this bike.it’s in good not great shape as you can see by the curve in the text. Definitely just on for a short time not a long time.

I suppose the sweet looking grey tires can be moved to the period correct wheelset, I like your other planned purple parts and agree it should be enough to finish off the accent coloring, for sure LX BR-M560 canties will finish it off nicely and work great

Thoughts on a purple seatpost QR? Too much?

Yes all three QR to be purple. Would love Ringle Holy Sticks but my budget is well below that.

I'm a skinwall homer, but on this bike?

All black, all the time.

Saddle choice

So I went and got measured for a saddle. Sit bone width is 90mm suggests specialized brand saddles in widths of 143mm for a mid range riding position. I’d like to get a vintage Flite titanium saddle for this bike but I’d like to ensure it’s quite comfortable as I intend on this being my usual ride. I know it’s a big ask but would if i stay around the 143-150 range it should be comfortable regardless of brand?

I find the XT just doesn’t match the LX crank very well. Not quite black enough. Plus I’d like to eventually end up with a fully match group set and that 560 group looks so good. The XT stuff will not go to waste😉

All-black drivetrain, on this bike... I totally get it. Of course, you know you're gonna end up shelling out a hundred bucks for black chainrings, right?

With respect to the brakes, while the low-profile LX cantis were never the greatest, they can be pretty good, so long as you don't use the stock Shimano "y" straddle cables. They pretty much suck. You're buying fast & idiot-proof setup, and paying for it with unalterably mediocre braking. Use a real straddle cable and a cool purple straddle hanger. (NOS Ringle Peace Signs would look the business, but I bet they're spendy these days, and I remember the knock-off ones being crappy and lame.) Spend the time and fiddles to get them dialed in, and you'll get the best that they've got to give you.
