How to do Fit & set-up for someone else

Bought my young adult daughter her first "real" bike. She doesn't have much experience evaluating the feel or conveying feedback on the feel of the seat and handlebar positions. What "tips" or suggestions should non-professional bike fitters like me follow when setting up a bike that I am not riding?

Did you buy it locally? Let the shop fit her. While the free-be fit isn't as good or all-encompassing in scope as a fit you pay for, usually a shop person that's been selling and riding bikes themselves for a long time will get everything in the ball park.
