Fingers crossed for Roglic. He's a hard man, but I think the challenge he was going to mount over the next few days just lost a ton of steam.

I can't see why he would have faked a flat. Even if Roglic's attack had stuck, he wasn't in danger of losing more than a few seconds.

I hope Roglic is OK. It's hard to see how he can race at full gas the rest of the week, but these are hard men.

And the DNS is official. Wow, tough season for Roglic. And a loss for us fans who won't get those Primoz-fueled high octane mountain stages in the days to come.

It's looking like Remco"s first grand tour, Mas o menos. But there is still some racing to be done.

That really sucks about Roglic. He seems like a really nice guy (seriously, is there anyone who isn't a fan of him?) who, all to often, has bad luck with crashes. I feel like his window may is now essentially closed on the TdF and rapidly closing on other grand tours.

Gino Mader not so big of a fan...

Really disappointed with the loss of Roglic, that was a beautiful move before the crash.

Awesome job by Rigo today! That completes the hat trick of grand tours!

Craddock was so close, that was a really great finale!! Seriously tf is his other teammates? Would've been nice if he had been launched from the break.

Mental note to add Champoussin to fantasy team next time solely for best pain face of the bunch.

Surprised that McNulty hasn't been a factor throughout. Still tired from the TdF?

Maybe ... That whole team is just bonkers in the Vuelta. Almeida - Ayuso - Soler lol. I checked the ITT results and McNulty was 5:52 off the winning time!? Is he targeting worlds?

if mcnulty were targeting the worlds (road race, not itt race), he'd be doing the two grand prix quebec/montreal canadian races this week.

uae has brought it for the vuelta...saw almeida being in the top four or five, ayuso outside chance top ten, brandon might have a shot at the itt...did not see soler being the beast than i always thought that he might be. they are smoking the team classification.

I'm stunned Roglic and his DS are bashing Fred Wright.

Roglic is usually the classiest guy. The replays I've seen, while sub~optimal views, seem to show Fred staying in his line and Roglic deviating.

Totally agree and I did think there was a conspiracy but now I am probably sure it was Roglic's error.

Roglic had made an absolutely insane attack, towed the group for 2km. I watched it live and it was hard to see with the head on shot. I thought Roglic had tried slipping in behind the train and maybe Wright had tapped the breaks or something. However in the video above they had a good picture from a photographer and it looks like Roglic tried moving alongside Wright. Would Roglic have really been competitive against Pedersen, Wright,Van Poppel, Ackerman?

I don't think he was trying to beat them, just catch the draft to hang on and avoid a time gap. And he was, understandably, cross-eyed with lactic acid. Stuff happens.

Why there wasn't a little clarity days after the fact is the great mystery here.

Roglic lost his head while being out of his element against real sprinters. Reminiscent of him taking himself out when trying to move up on the grass at the TdF last year when there wasn't space, coming up against another immovable object in Cobrelli, and getting ragdolled.

Guy got plenty of sympathy after the latest of his slew of misfortunes, but his and TJV's responses have surely evaporated much of it.

Meanwhile for all the criticism lobbed at Evenapoel for exhibiting youthful exuberance and lacking tactical nous, he rode a much smarter race and gets to ride into Madrid resplendent in red.

helluva tour for uae. will be interesting to see if they throw the kitchen sink (soler, ayuso, almeida, polanc, gbennett and brandon) at the tdf for tadej next year.

seems like quick step was top of the heap at year's end 2021. even with the vuelta victory, they've taken a plunge.
