TDF - Stage 1 - SPOILER (If you haven't already watched...
So, I always like the TTs, because head to head, and technical riding as well as just plain awesome power!
Today, was one of the best short TTs EVER! And the start order was a great mix, making the entire length of the event exciting!
Watching MVdP navigate the course was just a thrill ! And the closeness of times made it worth watching thru every turn.
All the best were there, and were tremendous.
But ... CHAPEAU Yves !!!!

Wonder if it's a coincidence that while the rain was coming down, 3 of the top 4 finishers were ex CX champs, while the nominal favorite on this parcours was a trackie and finished 3rd.
Harsh way to start for several wannabe challengers: O'Connor, Uran, Guerrero, Mas, Martinez, Caruso, Haig (those latter two might have bigger problems ...) Vlasov probably did the best he could hope for. Not seeing Mas, EF, and maybe Bora get through today's stage without issues. The wind forecast is for head and crosswinds. Expecting chaos.

the rain, crosswinds and cobbles of the first week means plenty of gc contenders will be relegated to stage hunting in the second and third weeks. not necessarily a bad thing.

It really begs the question -- should the TdF feature adverse weather conditions? Seriously though bummer for EF with Powless and Uran, especially bisseger going down on each side. I was surprised about Vlasov's time and impressed with Vingegaard!
